    Two issues.

During your reply to the article (above), you said you agreed with a few if his points. One of them was the *driving to the basket, causing the double or triple team and then dishing off to a cutter.*
That to me, is better than just taking the jumper on a short guy. Now, even if that shot is there, you don't just take it "just because." There has to be a reason. If a "short" guy was guarding Steve, well, that's fine when it happens. But not during an 82 game season. Francis was doing this on *tall* guard/forwards. Again, this was partially due to Rudy's inept "offensive" philosophy. So, no. I don't agree that just taking a jump shot in someones face is the best way. Why? Because it becomes habit. And then you get a bunch guys just standing around watching. You must adhere to the "system" the "game plan" "teamwork."

That should carry your team most of the way. Then, and only then, do you rely on the iso to get you out of trouble. But only in the last resort (last few seconds of a GAME).

As far as defense. It's been stated that our defense ranking is mostly due to Griffin and Yao. Not the rest of the team.
Who was our best defender, not including Yao and Griff? That would be Posey. He's gone now...sigh....But JJ will bring some heat.

But Francis and Mobley have to help.

again, like most of the board, you group mobley in with francis' D which is just ignorant. mobley played good D and by the end of the season it was great. how many announcers, bill and calvin, people on this board have to comment on it? i swear, if mobley held jordan in his prime to 5 pts on 2-20 shooting with 5 steals, some people would just say he got lucky and say well what about that one time he got by him for the layup.

Well, I'm glad you added that part about "i'm not saying steve is good enough to win a title as the dominant scorer."

Because, that's not his game. Jordan, Shaq, TD and Hakeem were soooooo unstoppable on the offensive side (Hakeem, later in his career) that they could do those things.

But Francis has limitations on that end. He's not as prolific. Thus, you can't expect to be like "Mike." Or even like "Shaq"

So, it might be a "sound philosophy" with Jordan and Shaq. But not Francis.

Again, he has other duties that needs attending.

I was going to bring up Mobley's defense. He had improved greatly since the other 4 years. Last year was his best defensively. But not Francis. Please don't tell me that Francis has dedicated himself to defense? He show average defense effort. Why? Because it's hard, tiring and not fun. Sorry, he doesn't impress me defensively.
