But Yao isn't Garnett. Everybody thinks Garnett is the second coming that can do no wrong DESPITE his lack of post-season success. Yao's public perception is just the opposite despite that Yao has virtually identical stastics to Garnett himself.

I'm not saying every MVP needs to have playoff success ...I'm saying Yao will need to have playoff success before anybody really takes him seriously unless A.) Yao is playing like a monster AND B.) we're leading the division. Yao's 12th in scoring and the Rockets are 5th in the division. Definately good but certainly doesn't lock up the MVP vote. ;)

Kerr is just a hack who follows the trends.

He'll ride the Rockets jock to the finals when it happens.

yao is 3rd behind boozer and nash.

they cannot give it to nash again this year..thats just bull. theres plenty of other players in the league helping their team win. we get the fact nash is good..he won twice already. geez.

After seeing Yao's performance yesterday(lakers), i wouldn't be too quick to put him in the MVP race. Dudes got all the talents in the world to be great, but his major weakness is the ability to adjust to what the opponents is throwing at him. This happens like 90% of the time, where he would score a ton of points in the first half and then only scores 5-10 points in the 2nd half. This has been goin on for 3 yrs now. It pisses me off everytime I predict he will have career night b/c of how dominant he was in the 1st half with good all around stats only to lay an egg in the 2nd half. One things for sure, its not b/c he's tired b/c he had proven plenty that he can play a lot of minutes and be productive in the 4th(Wizard's game for example). Mentally, he's still not there yet as a superstar should, but he needs to overcome this as he enter his prime, or else he's just a good player.

I have to disagree with that. Obviously we all see that his production does drop off, but teams play him differently in the 2nd half after a strong first half.

When the swarming begins, his shooters have to be on, it is his teammates who make him easy to contain. They fail him, too often. It's the best way to make double/triple teams useless...they need to hit their threes.

It is frustrating no doubt, but the bricks are even worse.

I agree. Every and anyone watching know Lakers will change their defense on Yao. Yet he still comes out so unprepared for it. This is not the first time this happens. He needs to carry the team when things not going well, that's MVP. At least last night, Yao failed on this.
