If John is indeed reading this thread, I guess I better hold off on calling him a FAT GREASEBALL.

Jordan retired those two years because he knew he would get his ass whipped against our rockets. ;)

What a pos piece of "journalism".

Lopez is a complete joke. I agree with moes. Clutch should treat his crap like hoopshype or those other sites...

Dude got let go from the Chronicle. What does that say about his talent or the significance of his writing?

Yes - because going a perfect 48-for-48 in 2008 with an ERA of around 1.80 and closing out the NLCS and the World Series - one of the greatest individual seasons in the history of the sport - was clearly not as dominant as he was before and the result of a pitcher with destroyed confidence.

I've got a crazy, wild concept for you. Maybe when Lidge fires a 97 mile-per-hour heater, he doesn't have visions of Albert Pujols or any other random psychological babble. Maybe he's exactly what people said he was in the minors: a very talented but injury-prone pitcher. When he's been healthy, he's been dominant. When he's had significant off-field issues (knee surgery in 2007 that had him struggling to walk, elbow surgery in 2009 that he's still struggling with), he struggled. If he were destroyed confidence wise by pressure, wouldn't you think he'd suck in the postseason - not have a combined 2.70 ERA with 10 saves and one blown save in the past two postseasons? Also, considering so many love to paint his 2006 as the "aftermath" of Pujols - how do you explain what happened to him in 2009? He had the worst season of his entire career immediately after his biggest success (perfect season and postseason, closing out the World Series). Perhaps your speculative psychological rambling is nonsense, and he simply wasn't healthy, documented in surgery reports. Which seems more likely to you?

Sorry for the sidetrack, but I think anyone who knows me knows that I'm going to stop that idiocy each and every time. On topic, moes has it exactly right - ignore it. The reason people write crap like this is to get tons of hits and people emailing it back and forth saying "can you believe this?!?". Journalism is more tied to the public than ever before with the advent of hit-oriented advertising - if we don't read it, they won't write it.

On John Lopez's tombstone, they're going to carve the words, "Worse Than Richard Justice." May his corpse lie forever in shame.

I didn't click the link, and I didn't read the article. The name and the quote is enough for me to know that it is garbage.

correct me if i'm wrong, didn't the Bulls win 70 games the 1st year of Jordan's retirement...woudln't that clarify as choking if they didn't win it all from being one of the best teams around during the regular season.

That was Jordan's first full year back after they acquired Rodman but in 93-4 the Bulls won like 55 games and had the Knicks beat in game 7 in NY but got screwed on a foul call.
