    Houston Astros - Unsigned

    Michael Bourn

According to the writer, "Unsigned" means "The best player who was drafted but never signed and then went on to stardom elsewhere."

I'm not saying Bourn is a star yet, but he's clearly making his name with...what's that team called again? Oh yeah. The Houston Astros.

Who cares? You can't stop a gushing blood-wound in one year in baseball.

Face the facts .. The Astros have to TOTALLY rebuild, & it started last draft. You will NOT reap the dividends for years to come. Sorry, that's reality.

Just sit back, watch your .500 team (if we're lucky) & wait. Nothing left to say.

Hopefully it will be sooner than later.

Exactly. Look at the state of our farm system over the last few years. Look at our lineup. We have, what, off the top of my head, maybe three homegrown players in our lineup?

Hopefully we can sign cheap, decent free agents until this wound heals.

That is a bit of the rub. FAs usually cost the signing team high draft picks.

Hasn't there been a slew of pitchers in our Low A ranks that are dominating right now? How can they say that only Castro has any real chance at a pro career? Or are they just looking at the next year or two?

Even Bud Norris & Brian Bogusevic are two guys that I think have decent chances to make it. Bogusevic was tearing it up last year with the Hooks, and is doing ok at Round Rock. This is only his 2nd year after being converted from being a pitcher.

Castro may be the only one that looks like a future star, but there are more that will have Major League Careers.

yet, they won a championship with tons of home-grown talent. i have a hard time believing that they weren't good drafters in the 9 year period preceding that.

That is why the Phillies were ranked as the 3rd best drafters.

    Ross Seaton
    Jordan Lyles
    Robert Bono
    Kyle Greenwalt
    Brad Dydalewicz

that could be our future rotation. all are doing very well right now in low A.

on another note, we just signed our 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounders
