I get why we would be interested, our lineup is really lacking against RHP.

Seems absurd this guy would sit a whole year of his prime even if offers werent up to par.

I hope this indicates we'll be aggressive this offseason. With Brantley and Gurriel both off the book (obviously, a lot of money will go to arbitration raises), I hope we add one solid, proven bat in FA. I'm thinking of another lefty hitting Mets outfielder, Brandon Nimmo, since he can play CF.

Boras uses lies about negotiations to create demand and urgency for his clients and benefits HIS pocketbook. He does use lackeys in the press to do it so he can plausibly deny he does this. But it's transparent to those with a brain which has not been addled.

Mets fear the Astros so make them think the Astros are in negotiation with his client. Good for the Mets for not falling for it. Shame on the Astros fans who fell for it.

I guess SI got duped too if they weren't co-conspirators.

Its the name of the game if you want to make big money. If you want an honest reputation then you keep silent and deal with teams and clients without the media attention. Big money usually wins but not this time.

His denial made it sound like there was an offer. Just more gamesmanship. Astros indicate they are not in negotiations with Hopalong Conforto, Thank God.

They can't get Mancini to replace Gurriel with ()usty managing so there's no chance Conforto would replace him either. I wonder if Gurriel being sent to AAA by Click could be in the works to force ()usty's hand. He'd probably play Matijevek everyday just to be obstinate.

Conforto has had too many serious surgeries. He would be extremely high risk.

Yuli can’t be “sent” to AAA by anyone.

I wonder if Yuli expects to play next year?

I wonder if ()usty expects to Manage next year?

Whether or not Yuli plays next year depends on his market. I honestly have a hard time seeing anyone other than us offer him a contract. I hope he just decides to retire.

Regarding Dusty, I don't know, but he said he wants to "keep going" after winning game 2000. Unclear if he meant only the rest of the season, or if he meant beyond. Then, at the All Star Game, he made more comments that seemed to imply he wants to return next year. I know nothing but I'd say 70-30 chance he is back next year, especially if we make the ALCS again.

If Click is still the GM, Dusty is gone regardless.
