I was absolutely amazed that Cheney took such a blatantly desperate, dispicable grab at smear politics by literally shoving words into Edwards' mouth about that. One of the worst spats I've ever seen in a debate.
Bringing the topic back to actual issues... I really like the Kerry/Edwards plan for keeping frivilous lawsuits out of court all together, but not limiting the amount of the awards granted in law suits that are worthwhile. From a purely substance point of view, I think that wins a few points.
I don't know... the frivolous lawsuits don't go anywhere. They get tossed out. They cost the insurance companies nothing and so there is no impact on malpractice insurance. What's the big deal?
Edwards explanation of why he is qualified even though he doesn't have a long politcal resume is laughable. "I would find terrorists and kill them." Tough talk.
Sad. "Talk about stopping the growth of AIDS among Black women." Cheney: We're trying to stop it around the world Edwards: There's no health care coverage. That increases AIDS and other problems WTF? Good job guys.
It must have been quite a punch in the gut for you when the moderator asked a question involving Halliburton. ___________________________________________ Sorry folks, but this debate is clearly a DRAW ~ of course this equals a win for the young buck against the evil dark lord (aka Dick Cheney).
But sometimes they do go somewhere. We've heard of the hot coffee that cost a fastfood company millions of dollars, and other suits of this kind. The fact that they have to go to trial at all is a weight on the system, because it costs money for attornies to prepare, argue, file motions etc. So even if the suit ends up not going anywhere, it still costs money.
I was an idiot who didn't understand that question. John Edwards can't follow the question. At first I thought Cheney couldn't but now it's Edwards that can't keep to the guidelines of the question.
She won back some points by calling out Edwards for using Kerry's name. Edward's hand gestures are making me dizzy.
I hope there's going to be another debate (Bush and Kerry) because this debate did not sway me towards one candidate or another. It was just a show for Cheney's lame impersonation of George C. Scott and Edward's lamer impersonation of Clinton's hand gestures.
Dare I say that that is one that would have gotten past the Kerry-Edwards screening? I guess I'm not sure that he is talking about anything substantial. How would that have been screened out of the process?
Edwards is systematically using the first 45 seconds of his two minute time limit to try and catch up to Cheney's putting him in his place...
They would have had a committee in place to review the cases, and screen them, plus anyone who does file 3 frivilous cases won't be allowed to file cases again. That's pretty big incentive not to have all the frivilous lawsuits.
