I hated it, honestly. All of the time I've spent watching this show, I've always felt that there was only two ways it could end. Either Dexter dies, or he goes to jail. I can't stand the fact that writers don't have the balls to kill off their main characters anymore.
Teaching Harrison the code and being his guide is pretty cool. grown up Harrison will be played by Dexter...and he and Hannah fall in love?
Didn't like the finale. Really unsatisfying. Dexter is such a POS to leave his son with Hannah. That's a lousy stunt. She met the kid 10 minutes ago and now she has the responsibility to raise him?
You might as well say Breaking Bad. It's the only other show that has it's finale coming up. You're gonna look real dumb if Walt lives.

Wife and I saw the finale last night, a few bright spots in the episode but christ so many stupid moments. I can suspend disbelief but Dexter's Miami turned into a city full of blind people...
Yeah, exact same thought I had. If a couple of minor things happened, I wouldn't have a hard time over looking it, but for it to go on and on throughout the whole episode is silly. I also agree with whoever posted about Dexter vs. Vogel's son in the hospital being stopped by Bautista, only to have the anti-climatic end with the pen stabbing.
Bravo. The whining about spoilers in those threads was/is unbelievable. Anyway, to the topic at hand... yeah, I totally hated the finale. Most people seem to agree on that. What even happened to his whole "I don't even feel like killing people anymore" epiphany he had this season? Is there any damn reason, any at all, he couldn't have tried to make life with his son and Hannah work? For god's sake, he could always fake his death later if it wasn't working out. And Deb's death? So contrived. The villain? So not scary, or charismatic at all. You go through quality villains and anti-heroes like Doakes, Lilah, Trinity, and Isaak, and you final villain is... this guy? Really? I actually would've preferred it if they'd just ended things after season 7. I may just literally pretend in my own mind that season 8 didn't happen. Sort of like X-Men 3.
His not wanting to kill is what caused Deb's death, so I'm assuming he feels that whatever he does, kill or not kill, people around him are still going to be hurt. Just my take on it, I too did not like the way the show wrapped up, but by the way they set things up there is no reason he could not have still gone to Argentina and lived a fresh life...
I see what you're saying, but yeah, that basically sums up to Dexter saying to himself "shucks, some god somewhere must hate me, or I have insanely bad luck. This sounds like good justification for abandoning my family." I mean... what? Jeez Dex, you do realize that non-murderers live happy-enough lives all around you all the time, right? Is there any *logical* reason you can't give it a shot? Gah. Just gah. What I *really* wanted to happen was, mid-season, or maybe towards the end of the season... he gets outed as a serial killer to EVERYONE. Heck, as the Bay Harbor Butcher in particular. And seeing everyone's reactions to that. How does Quinn react to that? Outwardly he would have to act disgusted, but in his head he might think "more power to you, Dex." How does Angel react to that? He'd probably be more thunderstruck than anyone. He's got this deluded image of Dexter in this mind as this perfect friend and perfect co-worker and perfect father. Is he disgusted/angry? Is he sympathetic? Is he sad? How about Matthews? Knowing about Dexter's past, does he excuse Dexter's behavior and try to help him to escape? Masuka? Astor and Cody? Miguel Prado's wife, whatever her name was? To me it was always the trademark of this show to sort of set things up and get the plot slowly rolling in the first half. Then starting in the middle, you make the situation more f'd up and convoluted leading up to the final couple episodes, to the point where it seems un-resolvable. Then, somehow, you wrap everything up in a surprising and satisfying way, and our hero lives another day. I wanted that same sort of build-up, except this time, there is no neat wrap-up. This time everyone knows the truth and Dexter just has to deal with it. Whether he runs to another country, or commits suicide, or gets the death penalty in the end doesn't matter that much to me. I just wanted everyone to find out about him and react to it.
