If we missed out on the big name free agents, there's not much that needs to be done other than signing Scola and Lowry and acquiring a backup center. Orlando is way over the cap and there is no way for them to reduce it this year, but you could offer them Jefferies or Battier plus a draft pick for Gortat. They just drafted Orton, who may not be ready, but it means they will likely be looking to move Gortat at some point. This trade would move $7M off their books next year. Then they could use the MLE to add depth at a position of need, likely SG. If someone like Ray Allen would accept, that would be perfect. Brooks/Lowry Martin/Allen/Taylor Ariza/Budinger Scola/Hill/Patterson Yao/Gortat/Hayes I think people are underestimating what a full year of Martin and Hill can bring to this team. As long as Yao could play 25 minutes a night, I think this team could do some things with minimal tweaking.
