Should've never traded Rudy Gay. Morey never would've never made that trade.

Reading the title felt so weird. Since Gay for Battier is Morey's move(has his signature all over it) as opposed to CD's move.

Dawson's drafting record would 100% support drafting Gay. Athletic, high potential, low IQ youngster with baggage. It's the type of player CD's been after for years.

i never said or implied he always got lucky, as in his whole career as a GM, i only said he got lucky in that draft. My point is he isn't as perfect of a GM as you make him out to be. Yes, he's good, and he's got a better resume than morey, but only because it's longer. You always seem to imply West is a mistake free gm and Morey is the opposite.

Actually no, during the grizzlies 3 year reign as a playoff team

Battier was 4th, 1st, and 2nd in most minutes played during those 3 seasons.

Posey was 2nd, 9th, and GONE

Of course battier had something to do with the grizzlies playoff losses, they just came up against vastly better teams.

See this is where your ignorance comes in. The value of Yao and Tracy will never be that low no matter how you look at (before the trade). No one will ever take a huge paycut just to keep in a supposed young and rising star. I'm pretty sure Morey and staff has done their hw in which lead to the trade. Even though morey did say they didnt expect him to do better, he still, in my opinion as well would not be able to blossom with the type of roster the Rockets have.

you are right. At that time, shane was the clear cut choice. A proven team player that plays great defense and could start immidiately while gay would have to really work his way into the rotation if he came here.

But now...lol...i know the topic have discussed many, many times, and the fact that we did not want gay in the first place. But it is always good to dream what it would be like to have gay on the team. Damn. Imagine the line up we had before...refar, tmac, gay, scola and yao. Wow..that is a dangerous team.

Scola is just a bit better than Battier at -10.13, so according to this, scola and battier are the worst players on the team. It makes sense if you put it in context, our starting lineup is going to be outgunned most nights and we rely on our bench to makeup the difference.

    Nice try

How about we wait till we have our 2 primary offensive players alongside Battier for balance rather than fillins. Maybe we could look at stats then.

Lets check your ignorance. Are you telling me that on the open market mcgrady or yao will command more than i said? So 2 injury filled 30 yr olds with chronic problems will command more than say 9 and 11 m? I doubt it and it has nothing to do with ignorance youngster. You pay and keep the young durable buck not the old broken down dog.

This is why this year will be an interesting year. A lot has counted us out but the latest espn analysis has us at 7. Regardless, I'm waiting till next year then the fun can really begin. :p

To get swept 3 times is almost comical. It just tells me the value some of the posters put on winner's title. Shane wasnt a loser or a winner because he did squat in playoffs when they were swept. Gasol wasn't trash because he couldn't win a game either and now he's great. To me, its beyond stuff like that and posters on this board are blinded by the magic words. In the in, there is one champion and thats all that matters. Getting out of the first rd doesn't do it for me. Now maybe for some of the johnny come lately's that just started following the rockets it might.

I'm pretty sure it's possible to pay all 3, but a team has 15 players, a starting 5, and usually an 8 man rotation, so it wouldnt make sense to pay all 3 what they're willing to take because you'd be left with not much. I already mentioned rudy turned down the offer from memphis, he was offered about 10, but he wants closer to 13. I dont see why he'd settle for 10 if he was in a different uniform, unless he'd be a worse player as a rocket, which pretty much defeats the purpose of even discussing this scenario....and by giving Yao 11 and gay 10, you're implying they're pretty much the same worth, that's insane. Yao , even as nice as he is, wouldnt not be happy with that. Even tmac at 9 wouldnt be happy with that if he was healthy. ...9,10,11, that's 2 mill setting 3 very different players apart, that's a very unrelaistic scenario, you don't think another team would offer more to them and we'd be forced to let them go or match?

A more realistic number would be yao's 17+ Tmac at 12 + rudy would want 13 = 42. then take into consideration the fact that yao is a FA next year, which means we'd have to give him then something closer to 20 mill a year, and that Gay by then may be at around 15-16 mill, that's about 47-48 million alone on those 3..oh and let's not forget Landry is a FA then too, then AB the next summer...i guess a roster salary shaped like boston's is possible, but may be hard to build, but i'm not sure our 3 would be the best in the league anyway and we'd face very tough salary decisions every summer.

Considering the chance of both making a full recover? No doubt about it. No way the market would slip considering what type of profit they can bring to the team. Even if it does slip, there would be no chance it would go as low as 9 and 11 mil.

Considering the arguments you've been making, you might want to check on your ignorance. You're basing your arguments on something that could have completely change the team in a way where we might end up with scrub roll players. I'm sorry but what we've done in the past 3 years tells me otherwise. The fact is, I could never see Tmac and Rudy playing alongside each other fluidly. Look at OJ and Rudy. The fact is, Rudy is a developing player. Could he be where he is at with the Rockets main focus is around Yao and Mcgrady?

only because he had contract flexibility and went to the teams with legit all-stars who'd be contenders and would set him up with those clutch shot opportunities...no that he doesn't have the 2 or 3 all-stars, the contender status, and the setting up by others he's having problems....you could argue shane is in the same situation here, having problems , bu then you'd have to agree shane would also prosper in the situations posey was in with boston and miami...

He did squat cos he never faced a dominant swingman in the playoffs, he went against spurs, mavs and suns.

You don't go from trash to champions, most champions take years to build. Rudy Gay's role on a champinship team is a gunner off the bench, he can't play defense, he can't make his teammates better, if he is your 2nd or 3rd option on offense, you do not have a championship team.

i was assuming yao and tmac would have stayed healthy, if you're assuming they would still have had injury issues, then not even Jordan would have saved this team, so talking about gay on an injury-filled team is useless...

The stat only makes sense when comparing between playrs onb the same team, if you want to compae players across teams, you would do bettr to compare abslue numbers.

    Rudy on D = 111.73
    Shane on D = 109.58

    Shane on O = 107.13
    Rudy on O = 108.11

So shane is better on D than Rudy is better on O
