Shouldn't the Atlanta Hawks get the award for best use of the pink slip:getting rid of Joe Johnson,

They offered Josh Smith about $15m a year, some of the best things that happen are someone saying no.

 

The only award the Hawks should get is for franchise to best take advantage of the mediocre eastern conference.

They are gonna make the playoffs yet again (8 years straight) depite putting forth a consistently mediocre roster. Had they played in the west, they would have made the playoffs maybe once. Not only have they made it, they even advanced 3 straight years, and could do it again this year.

FWIW I really love Horford and Milsap as individual players, but a team with them as their best players has no business having the second best record in a conference.

 

Is that why they didn't have any left to use on Ferry?

 

For them to be able to get rid of Josh Smith and Joe Johnson, they had to get them first.

 

Most mediocre and irrelevant team for the past 10 years. At least when they had Joe Johnson and Josh Smith there was some outside hope that maybe they would upset a team or two in the playoffs.

They are having a nice season and if they avoid the Wizards/Raptors/Bulls/Cavs in the playoffs for the first round they will get a chance to get eliminated in the 2nd round.
