Should you 'punish' your significant other for a major (non-infidelity) screw-up?

    I call BS.

There are many different forms of punishment.

    Okay. I guess you never...

    Gotten the silent treatment
Had to watch a lame ass movie or TV show
Had your s.o. not want to sex you bc he/she was mad
Been in a petty argument w/ your s.o.

These are just examples, and these are not always used specifically as punishment, but you get the idea.

    If still no, then:

Yah I definitely set the kitchen on fire as a kid from the burner.

In my defense, my mom was sick and I wanted to make her feel better. So I made hot cereal. Which I figured was made by simply putting the cereal box on the stove. Turns out it’s more complicated.

The silent treatment is no way near a punishment for me.

I watch lame as movies and tv shows all the time and If I don't want to watch I get up and do something else, my SO does not care.

I don't think a person not wanting to have sex with me is a punishment and the women who have tried to play that game with me have become exes.

So Clutchfans is a punishment? By who?

No I still don't get the idea, to punish somebody is a power dynamic and IMO it never should be thought of in a relationship but to each their own.

The entire idea is bonkers to me, i could never have a relationship with a woman who allowed me to seriously punish them (in a non sexual way):D

Where did I mention Clutchfans? Petty argument w/ s.o.?

None of y'all on here are my s.o.

We are talking about someone you are with. I don't consider it a punishment for someone random on the street not wanting to sex me. It's more like a "you're grounded" thing, but I agree on the becoming exes part.

Education and dialogue are the ways to go with reasonable adults.

    Grounding is for teens though.

How about you cook for once in a while if you find time(no offense).

If I thought getting into petty arguments was punishment I would not be on Clutchfans constantly.

A petty argument is a petty argument and if I don't want to argue just like on clutchfans I would just stop . the argument or conversation.

I understand what we are talking about.

In this context it was more about withholding sex not so much, "I'm not feelin' it tonight." I don't consider the latter a punishment.

With petty arguments on clutchfans it's easy to stop. When you live with someone they can continue following you around and berating the issue → not as easy of a fix.

This stuff does not happen overnight.

My SO does not do this, yes we argue but once its done its done.

Once...ONCE when I was a little kid I wanted some tamales, so I got them out of the freezer and put them in the microwave. They were wrapped in tinfoil. It destroyed the microwave. That was the day I learned you cannot put metal in a microwave.

Somehow I thought you were older. Like, "when I was a kid, there weren't any microwaves yet" older.

For the first 13 or so years of my life, we didn't have a microwave or calculator. While they were in existence, they were still novelties.
