http://slamonline.com/online/2007/06/links-final-finals-thoughts/ As Horry headed off to the interview room, I asked him if he’d decided what his future held. He’s alternately declared he’d be retiring after this season and that he was going to play a few more seasons. “One more year and then I’m retiring,” Horry said. For real? “For real.” http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2654216 San Antonio Spurs Restricted: Matt Bonner, Fabricio Oberto (P) Unrestricted: Melvin Ely, Michael Finley (P), Jacque Vaughn Limited Salary Protection: Bruce Bowen ($2,000,000 salary protection if waived before 7/1/07, thereafter full), Robert Horry ($2,000,000 salary protection if waived before 7/1/07, thereafter full), James White (no salary protection if waived before 8/1/07, thereafter $100,000 and will increase to $200,000 if not waived before 10/1/07 and to $300,000 if on opening day roster)
Yes but I think he likes winning championships, or playoff series for that matter. I think he'd pass on Houston. I don't see why he would end his long and successful career here... I wish we could sign him though, we need some clutch three's.
Hakeem working out with Yao, Elie possibly becoming an asst. coach, and signing Horry? We'd be coming round full circle.
I voted "no" only because I don't think he would come back to Houston. Other than that, I wouldn't mind that at all.
It wasn't broke back then, but we fixed it anyway. The bad karma of Barkley and Pippen followed, and the Rockets have fizzled ever since.
Robert Horry, finishing his career where he started, winning a ring in Houston? Where do I sign up? I love you, Big Shot Rob.
he said during the celebration that he wanted to be back in San Antonio for back to back championships.
He'd be pretty damn stupid to come back to Houston. Anyways.. I voted no. I don't think Horry will win us championships. I want a player that can contribute through seasons, not just one.
Horry isn't that good anymore, although he would still be an upgrade over Hayes. Why would he come to Houston to end his career on a sour note? He will stick with the Spurs for his 8th ring.
they interviewed him on abc on the podium last night. he said he's gonna stick around one more year to try and repeat.
I agree with the winning championships bit, but it wouldn't be impossible to nab Horry. Think about it. The guy has 7 rings. Do you think that at this point they might not be as crazy important? Robert Horry isn't looking to cement his legacy; 7 rings do that just fine. And besides, it's not like the Rockets aren't a contender. He'd be moving from one contender to another. And don't forget this sweet, sweet piece of bait: he'd have the opportunity to be the STARTING PF his final year in the NBA. He'd go out as a starter. Now THAT'S some good bait.
On last night's broadcast Horry specifically said he'd want to come back to repeat and protect their title. So if Horry is coming back, it'll be with SA. I'd love to have big shot Bob back in Houston, but it won't happen.
Horry as a starting PF, at this point in his career, just isn't realistic. Guy can give you maybe 15 to 20 mins a nite at the absolute most. Besides, Horry has a real tendency to glide through the season.
we don't have any powerforwards who have 7 championships and has past the 1st round of the playoffs in every year of his career. Horry off the bench would be good. don't cry cause juwan is gone.
Unrestricted: Melvin Ely, Michael Finley (P), Jacque Vaughn Melvin Ely might be a better consideration.
