Or, trade SF+filler for Kobe. It will be good trade for YOFs, OOFs, KOFs, and a lot more Rockets fans.

It would take a lot more than 1 all-star for someone that impacts the game like Yao Ming. He's not just an all-star, but someone that the other team specifically designs their game plan around. Therefore, it would take several players and draft picks and I just don't see any team with the right combination any more.

Shaq is making 9 times what Yao is making. Adding Fisher's 4 millions to the deal. WOW. If the NBA allowed this, The Lakers would save clsoer to 30 million dollars. They would be immediately under the salary cap. And on top of that the team would still be a title contender.

Anyway, to make a trade like this work, you have to send Yao, Taylor, SF, and Mobley all together to just get Shaq under the salary rules.

One positive mention in your post: Luke! Luke can play. And he is a very good role player playing along side of a big man. Yao would be very happy to have Luke playinh the point forward for his team.

Yao is a business asset like any other. If a team puts together some unreal package (like my Vikings were stupid enough to do for Dallas/Herschell Walker a few years ago), the Rockets would be silly not to at least entertain the possibility of trading him. Heck, even Minnesota listens to trade offers for KG and he's a lot better than Yao.

The thing is Yao has not peaked, or anywhere close to there. Besides, salary wise, it won't work till two years later when he has the max contract in effectiveness.

Twolves listened to offers for KG because after losing in first round for eternity, KG was considering leaving. They didn't take any offer, and instead surronded KG with players that gave him a hope.

Where did you see Yao wants to leave? Even he indicates that after next year, we can try things to keep him.

this remind me of the story of a bear(?) who tries picking up corns from a tree.... He picks one and put it under his armpit... then he picks another... but he doesn't realize while he is picking up another one, he is dropping his original one... so in the end, he still end up with one corn....
so the moral of the story is that people always look for what they can get.. but not realizing what they are going to lose to get those things...

I wasn't saying that Yao wanted to leave or that KG for Yao would even be a doable trade. I was making the point that noone is un-tradeable if the right combination of players are offered.

Under the CBA, i think the max any player can get is 13-14M/year so a deal involving shaq/yao may not require 4-5 players.

True. But the right combination of players is not offered nowadays. Teams keep their superstars. Spurs won't trade TD unless offed KG, which Twolves will not do, thus no trade for TD or KG.

Players who already had contracts for amounts exceeding the max salary, are exempt when their contract is extended. Shaq makes $24.7M this season. That's second highest in the league after Garnett's $28M. Both players are eligible to sign with their existing teams for raises.

Agreed. I also said that I couldn't even see a team having the right combination of players to warrant a Yao trade - much less offering them.

Take ie it easy!!! I don't think he's actually advocating trading Yao. He just pointed out that a while back, many were interested in seeing what we could get for him.

He said he woulf only trade him for KG!!!
