We should tank to keep our pick, but accept the reprecusions. Less attractive destination to stars.

But fat chance. This thread is pointless because this team will never tank.

Spurs built a 2-decade dynasty by tanking at an opportune time.

They won't tank intentionally, but perhaps unintentionally.

    I think you are confused:

If the Rockets miss the playoffs they keep the pick and give Denver a 2nd round pick via Portland in 2017.

If the Rockets make the playoffs they owe Denver their first round selection.

So the best they could hope for draft wise is to end up around 9-10 with their own pick and Detroit's pick between 12-14.

So it boils down to what you think is more valuable - getting slapped around in a playoff series by one of GS , SA or OKC .... or getting the 9th or 10th pick in the draft.

I'll take the 9/10th pick over getting trounced in a playoff series and no pick. No pick means not adding talent which means not getting better .... and another year of mediocrity.

    That's a good point.

They have been statistically worse (winning percentage) with Dwert than without ... They also traded away their best bench scorer and DMo who should contribute sooner than later .... weakening the depth while forcing T_ones and Brewer into ... more minutes. That probably equates to a few L's in the standings.

    LOL.

And the move at the deadline to dump cash and not try and improve our current roster does.

The front office slurpers are just on another level. Its absolutely hilarious.

Pff you don't have to tank, just keep playing like you have been all year, guaranteed lottery.

    Right? :)

Just keep playing no defense; keep allowing 115 every night.

Everything will take care of itself!

Who cares whether we tank or not. Whoever we get in the Draft will be here a couple years or for 1 hour and then sent somewhere else to get bellow the luxury tax or for another pick.

Two late lottery picks would be REALLY helpful for us to retool. First round picks were a premium price at the deadline, the value of the 13th or 14th picks has never been higher.

Or we keep those picks and hopefully can produce at least one starter from it.

Management's message is clear: we'll fix it this summer, BUT the core from last year (plus the corpse of Lawson) is still in tact. We dare you to get it together and make a run.

At least that's the way I see it.

Don't think we should tank, but I do think we should give maximum minutes to Capela, Harrell, Dekker and McDaniels. Let Beverley keep shooting, need him to cement his ability to hit the 3 for good. Pull Harden from the game OFTEN for not playing defense or standing around when someone else has the ball. Pull Howard when he bickers with refs and gets into silly fits. Bring their minutes down.

    We should not tank.

I don't want to tank because it sends the wrong message to future FA's. We want to finish strong and prove that we are a destination, just a player or two from being a legit contender.

JB won't want to tank because if we don't finish strong we probably won't bring him back. If we finish poorly and Dwight leaves, it'll be easier to sell new FA's on Harden and a new big-name coach than JB.

If we were going to tank, we should have traded a lot more than D-Mo and Thorton. Definitely should've traded Brewer and maybe Terry if we wanted to tank.

15-16 Rockets are the only team to tank without trying in NBA history

Losing on purpose is NEVER acceptable... but letting the youg'uns get some court time might be the right move - for their development... ;)

KJ, capella and Harrell should be logging 30 mins a game...

    Let's keep this simple:
Tanking for only 27 games gives us 40 million, 2 first rd picks and a new qualified coach who will trash the stupid Moreyonic system which has bev and tjones jacking up 3 pointers and the team playing no defense.
Not tanking: JB re-signed for 3+ years (the JB era), 1 draft pick and a humiliating first round sweep by either GS or SA.
