Like ref said, you are living in fantasy land. Even the OP's concept of universe is made up by man. Your assertion not to believe in anything made up by man comes from a framework that is made up by man.

And you know what man is? A cencept made up by man...an artifically constructed identity.

That is why I only choose to believe in whatever moes tells me. He should know, his mamma is an ethos.

I'd challenge any fool who called my mama an ethos to a duel.

I would NEVER call your mamma an ethos. She is more like a paradigm. Yep, twenty cents for the entire night.

I thought the threat of a duel would avoid name calling on my mama.

Never have I been so wrong of the internet.

That was good enough for Einstein. Thats good enough for me.
That probably is the OP's point of view. I didnt quite see it like that at first. I saw it as the unknown figuratively called "god".

Its unknown whether the Rockets will win a championship. Its unknown how the working fabric inside each player chose the path of basketball as their existence. Sports is nothing but random outcomes on a playing field that can happen whether we watch it happen or not, we just lend story lines to it. We know enough about basketball that its nothing but sports mythology. But we immerse ourselves in the possibilities anyway.

And THATS definitely what people have done for thousands of years, decide what they want to believe for themselves

Yes, the Dalai Lama. He wants to rule Tibet like he he was "chosen" to do. If that isn't power hungry, I don't know what is.

The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking.

    Big hitter, the Lama..

Which "god" is God? Who in known history claimed to be God and did things to prove it?

If you actually prove it, then it's no longer religion or God. It becomes factual.

So oddly enough, if there truly is a God and he actually appeared before us, we'd probably categorize him as an alien. Albeit a REALLY, REALLY powerful alien with a huge ego who enjoys having worthless human beings prostrating themselves in front of his greatness.

And someone who likes to grant NBA championships to players who'll thank him in post-game interviews.

There is a God who enjoyed prostrating Himself before human beings and washing their dirty feet. :)

Yes, all ideas can only be like other ideas . There are also truths about words that are created by people as a consensus built upon natural language and then there are truths that exist independently of perception or cognition. Pi... the Pythagorean theorem, these are eternal relationships even if they are never discovered by man. These are truths that are only accessible by rational and empirical labor.. There is no authority on what is real beyond rationality and empiricism...
Those who claim to have heard the voice of God would have us believe that the auditory cortex of a 5 ft tall dna based life form was stimulated by the suspension of all the immutable laws of the universe so we would know how to behave and live is...

    Well... I mean really?
We lock those people in the loony bin now that we understand the world and our biology a little better... don't we?

I find Einstein a poor guide to understanding the universe insofar as he stopped looking at the piles of data that quantum theory was producing and instead fell back on the heuristic introspection and preconceptions that got him as far as it did. You've got to deal with reality as you find it, not what you think it should be.

    How about this approach

    POSSIBILIANISM
Just be both accepting yet non-committal of all theologies. Answer "Yeah, perhaps it is!" to everything.

Plenty of money to be made in cult followings of speculative theories and philosophies...

The universe has no end, but it does not go onto infinity. It's like if you kept going on one direction, most likely, you'd end up in the same spot eventually.

While it's possible that our universe is open (infinite) most theroy's conclude that space didn't exist before the big bang. In fact, it's not the galaxies that are flying apart from each other at all...nope - it's space itself is expanding.

The weird thing is, reality more and more resembles a computer program running in some gigantic computer.

Think about - everything we know is now pretty certain to be quantized - so much so that a binary system can account for everything. There is no continuous nature to existence - time, space, energy - all of it can be broken into discrete numbers. All energy and substance are made up of theroetical strings that have no substance in any of themselves.

We are indeed, a massive computer framework with many programs running simultaneously.
