This has been brought up about 300 times already and each time the majority concludes that his attitude/ego/expectations are all too much to swallow and that Brooks is basically a younger version of what AI brings anyway.
For the veteran's salary or part of the mid level salary then yes to Iverson. Anything more, NO! Iverson is still a player who can contribute but to tie the team up with a salary that would cripple its chances to rebuild. ( in case Yao never plays again ) Another concern is can He co exist with Artest?
This is not completely true.. he did basically take the Sixers to the NBA Finals by himself that one year and didn't they win the first game against the Lakers? However, that was during his prime.
It's no guarantee that he would be a better fit, except that we don't have the logjam at the 2 guard position, and we don't need him to run the point. He could come off the bench at either guard spot or start at the two guard, depending on the match up. In my perfect fantasy world, where I am GM, coach and king (NBA Live), he would be inserted into games situationally to do nothing but score in 3-4 min spots. If he's too feisty to do this, then this wouldn't be the place for him.
A general rule of thumb: if John Lopez and the other "Monster" on 790 agree with you, you are wrong. There are exceptions of course.
I think I have "THE ANSWER" Sorry for the play on words. I am not a huge fan of Allen Iverson and have no idea what is left in the tank, but these things are facts right now: 1. He should come on the cheap as everyone is saying he is not a team guy and needs the ball with his age starting to show. 2. The Rockets had some serious scoring issues at times and were desperate for someone to create their own shot late in the shot clock(usually Artest). 3. If the Rockets can land a C like Gortat to at least give them enough bigs and then make a deal for Mcgrady that brings in a star quality player like Amare or Rip then why not bring in Iverson if cheap? I would only want him if we land a big name and gives us a hope at playoffs. Lets face it, losing Artest and Yao means even with a trade for a guy like Amare would be meanigless next season unless you have a SCORER to go with him. The Answer has made $132 million in his career. Right now the only thing he really wants is PLAYING TIME AND THE BALL. Houston can offer both even right now with Artest gone,T-Mac hurt, and Wafer a FA. The 2 guard spot is empty. Like I said, I am not a huge fan of the guy but he sure seems the fit to this team as it stands right now. Give him a 2 year deal offer on the cheap and see what happens.
The Answer has his pride. He wont play cheap for a lottery team. He might want to chase a ring somewhere else.
I think you should visit the garm more often so you would know this has already been discussed before.
couldn't agree more. unfortunately, he isn't a "morey guy". morey don't make moves that don't allow morey to showcase dem big brainsies of his.
That was the first thing that came to my mind as well, but getting a big name for T-Mac probably would include losing Brooks. As for him not coming cheap, he may not have much of a choice.MLE is what he is looking at with his run-ins and age and next season FA class waiting.
I don't know what the garm is? Nevermind just got it. I have not seen much mention of him on here. I just think Houston is desperate for a scorer which is all AI is. And I know I am not the first or the last to throw this out there.
