Should we go Dolan and completely clean house for 2012?

Cleaning house only works if you can attract free agents.

Houston just doesn't draw attention from premier athletes.

Why not clean house completely and sign all 3? What's this "sign 2" business?

If there's a chance to get CP3, D-Will, and DW...go get all 3! I know CP3 and D-Will both play the PG position, but that gives us a very dynamic back court that can PLAY DEFENSE.

Lets just hope this "franchise tag" doesnt become part of the deal... Just seems like players would be far more disgruntled in the NBA with the "franchise tag".

    CP3/Ish
    D-Will/Lee
    T-Will
    PatPat/Hayes
    Howard/Yao (vet minimum)

    Good mix of offensive+defensive players.

    It's not happening.
Save some disillusionment before you lose yourself furthermore in fantasyland.
Did you get rookiefied because of this particular offense?
I don't see the day when you might be getting the normal rights back.

I've been on this notion for awhile, but the team doesnt have to go belly up to get there. They just need to have the flexibility or the contracts that equal to about 32m and developing players. Short term and long term goals and player devlopment can be accomplished this season if done right.

One of the reason I want guys like randolph and thabeet is because even if they start to develop on the rockets, by the end of next season their salaries will still be relatively small, but their upside would still be rising. If nothing else, the rockets miss out on Howard,my top target, they still have some young bigs going forward. Even a guy like Jason Thompson would be part of a good foundation to help attract a guy like howard.

didn't he threaten to financially cut off one of his brothers because he didn't want to attend UofH? maybe that was just a rumor but i'd like to think that Dream is devoted to the city of Houston. Dwight can save us. make it happen Hakeem please...

There will be no franchise tag, period. Just because of a few jaded fans doesnt mean the nba will hold players hostage.

I doubt that story is true. I played against Taju and Afis in college. In fact, the coach at alvin community college wanted me to come there and hoop. One day, i wanted to see what Juco looked like,so i took a unofficial visit. In all honesty, I just wanted to hoop against college level talent. Guess who were already on the team? Afis and Taju. When I went to swt and playing in the southland conference, we played UTSA and guess who were on those teams? You guessed it,Taju and Afis.

There hasnt been a single owner talking about a franchise tag DD. Not one. Let say there is this mystery franchise tag like the nfl. What would stop a guy from signing 1 yr cap killing contracts. Think about this, the nfl franchise tag is 120% of your previous salary after being in the top 5 of your position. LBJ making 17m,now it would be 120% of that. That now put him at basically 20m. Then the next year, he would be at 24m. Then next yr on a 1 yr deal would put him at 29m. The franchise tag would be terrible for the nba. If the out is a 1st and a 3rd, thats thats what they got.

You are assuming the franchise tag will be like the NFL's.....bad assumption.

There will be some way for the owners to get the rights to match a contract or to keep a franchise guy locked up with the team that drafted them.

And none of the owners are talking Leeb, that is good business on their part....they don't want to look ugly yet...but it is coming....

Awesome, even more reason to resign Courtney. Once he gets his confidence he will definitely be starter material.

Also would be sweet to see D-Will and T-Will play together. Can you say alley-oop?

Can someone explain this to me? Does Howard expire in summer 2012 or summer 2013?

    thanks

$19 million is quite a large player option to forego, especially if the new CBA lowers salaries

The team is currently set up now to be cleaned out if Morey wanted, and I doubt that flexibility will change much until Morey aquires an impact player either through the draft or free agency. The one player that could take up significant cap room in the offseason would be Brooks if he is given a large offer and the Rockets match.

This is a myth. Rockets have had a bunch of star players play here. The common theme is that they want to win and will gather together on a team if they think they can win. Tracy chose Houston over Chicago for instance.

It's really not that much about doing it in a certain city. Kevin Garnett didn't even like Boston. But given the chance to work with Allen and Pierce was too much to turn down.

All that matters is establishing a winning culture. You think Rubio would like to go to the Celtics because he would like to live in Boston?
