What do they get in return? A future 1st rounder? Anyone knows that pick from Rox worth little. On top of that, they will have the TE, but that is worthless to them because their owner is cheap and won't use the TE anyway. They have the MLE no matter what. They can offer Bowen that now.
6'2" is not short. It's about average. Francis is 6'3" Marbury is 6'2" Nash is 6'3" Casell is 6'3" Bibby is 6'1" Parker is 6'2" Barry is a pure shooter. Nobody will outshoot Brent Barry. However, Brent Barry is also a piss poor defensive player and 32. If you think 6'2" is too short, why would you want Hudson. He's 6'1". So is Derek Fisher.
At least Hudson and Fisher shoot 3-pt a bit better. The pg you list above all shoot the 3-pt better, especially Marbury, Nash, Casell and Bibby. SF and Parker are better athelets than Arroyo. But the point is, we need a passer and shooter more than an athelet. I am afraid Arroyo, not a pure shooter and not tall enough to feed Yao easily, will try to do too much on his own. That is not what we want to see. I don't have a full list, but I felt SF was shorter than quite a few pg's and Arroyo is even 1-inch shorter. Is he good on D? I didn't pay much attention to Jazz last year. Everybody says Barry sucks on D, but who knows how Arroyo will fare?
Most of the people I listed also play for better teams and have more experience. Many players have shot better as their careers progressed. Also, it's just as important for someone to knock down a 15 footer as it is a 23 foot jumpshot. I have no idea why people are so obssessed with the 3 pointer. Kevin Johnson of the Suns was a great PG and a very good shooter. He never had 3 point range, wasn't tall, but was a fantastic PG. A 6'2" PG is not short. A player starting his first season making 44% of his shots is not bad. His assist numbers are also very respectable considering the lack of offensive talent on Utah's team.
I am not a big fan of Bruce Bowen. He can't shoot consistently and his free throw shooting makes SHAQ look like Rick Barry! Surely, he is a defensive stud, but I can just see the Rox's passing him the ball when teams double down on Yao and he is shooting brick after brick in the mode of John Starks!!!!! I say no on Bowen and yes on Hudson if Barry and Fisher are not an option.
