i didn't mean to imply i thought you were taking a shot at me. i understood what you meant. at some point i do think they will listen more to their fan base...in fact, they might overcompensate and give too much weight to it. like if joe thomas and adrian petersen are both on the board and we miss out on taking joe thomas because the fans demand AP!
Rosenfel > Carr (like Rosenfel is anything special ) Just as long as they don't do something stupid (overpay a retread or start Carr next season) I think it is going to be EXTREMELY difficult to trade Carr but that has to be priority #1 They won't cut him. I think the likely scenario barring a trade is that they wait for next pre-season and declare the job is wide open to competition- and then hope someone else's QB goes down which might open the door to a trade. The more I ponder the situation- again the Texans are in a no win situation unless they are able to come up with a very fine young QB in the draft who can come in and start. I right now would start Rosenfel over Carr no matter what. But again I scratch my head and think what in the world is so good about Rosenfel? Except at least in pre season and one half against Tennessee he out played Carr hands down.
I'm kind of afraid of this. I'd prefer them not use a high pick on a QB. But so far McNair has given no indications they are going to move Carr.
and they won't until the end of the year; this is the same organization that left capers twisting in the wind for nearly an entire season.
I would make Sage the starter from day one in training camp. Make David the backup. Allow Sage all the reps, play him in the preseason and hopefully he will be a servicable quarterback. Start Sage when the season starts and hopefully he plays well and stays healthy. Give David a rest. We won't get much for David in a trade, he will be a good backup. We draft heavy on the offense, Oline, Oline, running back. The offense jells, the line blocks well, the running game is purring along. Sage gets hurt. I bet David would then do just fine. I don't want to waste high draft picks on quarterbacks before the line is ready to help them succeed. Rebuild the offensive line and running game. See what David can do with a good offense. And then trade him, and get a top notch quarterback for the good offense.
He is certainly not all that is wrong with the team, but it is time to move on. I think it would be best for both parties. Everyone might profit from a change of scenary. It is psychological as well as physical at this point. Carr will flourish in the right situation: a decent running game and a better offensive line. Bears? Bucs? SeaHawks? Yes, they all have QB's but Carr might be better than them all.
Ahhh, welcome to the Dark Side my Jedi friend. From henceforth on, you shall be known as "Darth Texan".
For the best for all involved, they've got to part ways. Carr is certainly salvagable, but I can't see it happening here with a home crowd that looks for opportunities to boo him rather than cheer. There's blame in all corners, but that doesn't matter. Time to start a new chapter. Evan
What is coach KubiAG gonna say when Carr is gone and he hears the VY question. I am happy with Mario or we are happy with our draft ("the greatest ever")
Same situation It may not be all their fault . . but they are the Face of the Team and They weren't getting it done [and that is all that matter] Rocket River
Lets see Drew Bledsoe gets REPLACE by Tom Brady and look what happen ... then Bledsoe gets REPLACE by Romo and look what happen ..... both LATE ROUND PICKS too so conclusion sign Bledsoe and draft KOLB and have KOLBE replace Bledsoe after week 3
no, Ric's right. It's not the same situation at all. Francis had just taken the Rockets to the playoffs. Carr? Francis wouldn't have been gone if McGrady hadn't become available- nobody was discussing cutting him. If we suddenly got the chance to pick up Peyton Manning in exchange for Carr and a few others (and if Carr had just led the team to the playoffs), the situation would be a little closer.
Possible free agent replacements as mentioned in the Chronic: Plummer, Garcia, Shaub, Rattay- They said these guys were mobile and therefore would be at the top of Kubiak's list. Culpepper, Leftwich, Huard- They said these guys were immobile and probably wouldn't fit. Umm, since when is Culpepper immobile??? Culpepper's 2004 stats: 69% passing, 4717 yards, 8.6 yards per attempt, 39 TDs, 11 INTs, 406 yards rushing with a 4.6 avg and 2 TDs.
umm, since he had major knee surgery to rebuild his right knee... Culpepper's 2006 stats: 60% passing, 929 yards, 6.9 yards per attempt, 2 TDs, 3 INTs, 20 yards rushing with a 2 yards per carry average (he only even bothered to try rushing 2.5 times a game), 3 fumbles (out of 10 carries) 1 TD and 1 "season ending" knee surgery.
