Should we extend Kenny Thomas?

I would love for that to happen, but it does not seem likely. Trading away Maurice Taylor would be hard, even if he reached the numbers he did last year. His large contract, previous mar1juana related suspension, and past tricky injury will scare away most teams. I believe that Maurice Taylor is here to stay, unless he can put up unbelivable numbers that could get him traded. I don't think Rudy and CD would trade him anyway, they like him a lot.

Kenny Thomas is an excellent player, but he does not have a spot on our team. I love his spirit, his hard work, and dedication. He puts up good numbers despite being undersized for his position. Even through all this, I can not see him play the small forward position. He does not have the ball handling skills to play that position. His skills are best displayed when he is playing power forward. If we signed Kenny Thomas, then we would have a logjam at the power forward position.

The Rockets need to trade Kenny Thomas. I would not mind seeing him go for one or two future first round picks. I think we have enough depth at every position, the team just needs to mix together.

I would go ahead and move KT either in a package deal that would help send out some salary cap deadweight or move him for a future first round pick. From what I read in the Chronicle, the Rockets estimated cap figure after maxing out Francis and signing the first round picks will be roughly 50 mil. The luxury tax threshhold could be anywhere from 51-54 mil according to that article. Its possible the luxury tax may not go into affect till next summer but still advance planning needs to be made to avoid it. If this team creates another bulky long term contract by re-signing KT, they will only find themselves stuck when luxury tax time comes. Plus, as had been mentioned, KT's contract will be BYC, thus making it very difficult to trade or sign and trade him if the Rockets wait till next summer.

For one thing, he showed a lot of heart and desire to win. He extend the effort game after game. Compare to MoT, Kt loves to drive to the hoop in a flash, unlike MoT he just love to shot that perimeter jumper. I choose Kt over MoT anytime.

KT is a better all around player than MoT? I'll agree with that. But MoT clearly has one of the better outside shots in the game and he can drive when he really wants to. We need consistent outside shooters on our team to help break down the zone defenses and draw the defense out of the paint to clear the way for Cat and Steve IMO. We have people that can take their man of the dribble and drive to the basket but we don't have enough outside shooters. KT's outside shot is very erratic at best.

Yes we should. I think we should offer him the same type of contract we offered Othella. For those of you that want to trade him,(I am not) a young player signed to a reasonable contract is much easier to move.

Rudy needs to win games this season in a big way. I bet he gives minutes to whoever he thinks will help win games, regardless of contract, luxury tax, size, or other issues. Kenny has the capability to be a force in the paint, and until EG, MoT, and/or Ming step up, he's the guy Rudy will want in there.
