He's used up for sure. He can't even guard anyone any more, which to me was more important in his Rox days then his shooting. Besides, against San Antonio he looked totally overmatched.

Close -- he was 2 of 38 from behind the 3-point line in the playoffs. The game-winner he missed was in game 5 and would've given the Lakers a 3-2 lead over the Spurs. That one shot might have given them the title.

I say let Big-Game Bob sign somewhere else. The Lakers are prepared to offer him $1.5 mil after they pass on the $5 mil option they hold for him this year, so if nobody else is willing to give him more than 1.5, he'll probably stay in LA.

He can play good defence, much better than EG, for 24 minutes every night and that alone worth 1.5 mil. And you never know when he will get his shooting touch back. I would say yes if he takes the 1.5 mil but I don't believe he will.

How much do you think it would take? The guy really wants to be with his baby's momma.

ITS OFFICIAL- Bob's a free agent.

Lakers decline option on Horry
Associated Press
EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- The Los Angeles Lakers did not exercise their $5.3 million option for next season on forward Robert Horry's contract.

Horry, who turns 33 in August, becomes a free agent Tuesday, meaning he can negotiate with any NBA team, including the Lakers. They could offer him a contract closer to the veteran's minimum salary of $1.4 million.

"By not picking up this option, it gives us financial flexibility to pursue other free agents, which is important to us," Lakers spokesman John Black said Monday, adding the team remains interested in Horry.

His agent, Robert Barr, did not immediately return a phone message.

Horry spent 6 1/2 seasons with the Lakers and helped them win three consecutive NBA championships. But he struggled last season, averaging 6.5 points and missing 36 of 38 3-pointers in the postseason.

Horry's last 3-point miss, at the end of Game 5 of the Western Conference semifinals against San Antonio, would have given the Lakers a victory and a lead in the series. Instead, the Lakers lost and the Spurs went on to win the NBA title.

The Lakers plan to be active in the free agent market when the negotiating period begins Tuesday. They are seeking a power forward and a guard.

Teams may sign free agents starting July 16.

Well, if we sign Steve Kerr and Robert Horry, we're sure to win the championship next season.

This team needs role players, Horry may under achieve but he never plays outside of his role. If we can sign him for minimum, I say bring him back. Rober Horry is one of the few players that expressed a real interest in coming back home, he did it for the last 3 seasons but the Rox just ignored it and his value was still pretty high considering his playoff performance.

Who knows, maybe he just tanked last year so the Lakers wont pick up the option and he can come home.

Not only that, but Horry was dubbed "probably the best inbound passer in NBA history."

I like Horry and I think that if he took Collier (or Maddox)'s roster spot, it could only help us. He is not the player many expected us to be, but he knows the one thing that our players seem to be oblivious of: how to win basketball games.

Someone has posted this here before and needs to be said again:

From 93 - 03, TEN YEARS, either Steve Kerr or Robert Horry has been on the NBA Championship team.

And all of you b****ing about his defense, he's a natural SF and he's forced to defend against Webbers and Duncans every night.

and EG compliment

anyway if we maid the playoff I would say yes. That is vertern play off experiance to help get the to the next team. But since we ain't seen the play offs sine Clinton I say no. Horry is the kind of player to get you over the hump. We need to get to the hump first

No they don't or Horry would still be a Laker. The only reason he was a Laker was because they couldn't find help. Remember, they looked forevery replacement they could find, Horace Grant, Mark Madsen, Samaki Walker, AC Green, etc. They still don't find that replacement, but don't pick up Horry option anyway. If the Lakers don't want him anymore and they're a veteran championship team, why would we need him!?

They also played on teams with guys like Hakeem, Clyde Drexler, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, Shaquille O'Neill and David Robinson on them. I mean people rip Pippen saying he road Jordan's coat tail, but Horry and Kerr did the samething, but with less fanfare.

Yeah I would look for a natural PF too when I have a SF in there

Golly gee, I sure remember Kerr and Horry stepping it up big time when they were needed.

No one is asking Horry to start. Him being on the bench and being situational is ideal.

Sure, why not? He is the ultimate role player. No one will offer him all that much and he probably wants to come home. He had a bad playoffs last year. These things happen. He has playoff and big game experience. Two important things the Rockets don't have. He doesn't need to play 30-35mpg, but 15-20 would be ideal. I say go for it....if the money is right.

what u thinking man..any1 could have been a horry in the role he played for the lakers..which was making open 3 pointers while defenders were all over kobe and shaq. C'mon think about it,, horry was replaced by mark madsen..LoL.
