There's no way it's at an all time high, just no way. AB hasn't had time to adjust completely to the increased playing time. He did some minor adjustments on the fly, but you dont have a lot of time to work on bigger things in between games, for that you need a lot of time like in the offseason. He needs to be given at least that, let him work this offseasn and see how he responds.

Also, there's more questions surrounding this team than Brooks. One being, are the rockets going to continue to make Yao such a big part of the offense? Seems like ano brainer, but let's face it, he's offically prone to certain injuries and having the offense depend completely on him is a big risk for the team because if he goes down again, you have to adjust dramatically on the fly once again. Not only that, but its going to continue to put a lot of stress and pounding on Yao. It's time to consider giving him a lesser role, making this team a lot more well balanced. That prepares this team for any injury a lot better and doesn't suppress anyone's abilities, except for maybe Yao's , but we kind of have to now if we want to prolong his career.

Based on Morey's comments on the Alston trade I think it's pretty clear they see Lowry as being a major piece of their future. Right now I think we're in a pretty good shape at the position with AB and Lowry. It's hard to say which one will become the starter, but it will be fun to see who comes out on top. or we might have a tandem of 2 pretty good and equal PGs.

Having said that, trades are all about what you have to give up and what you can get, so I'm sure if Morey had the right opportunity he'd make a move, but to me this isn't a priority.

As long as we've had Yao I alsways thought we needed another big that can rebound and block shots, either C or PF. Preferrably a PF that can play alongside Yao.

and it's one thing to check what you can get for him and another to actively shope him or think he has to be traded....you always listen to offers, regardless of who they are for, but its not something you HAVE to do for next season, if you can get better and not give up the future by trading him, then fine, but keeping him is definitely not a bad thing.

I don't think they'll actively look for one, but if one becomes available and it makes sense to make a move, I think they do.

In the playoffs, we heard repeatedly about how we performed when we had more assists than turnovers and when it was the other way around. If the Rockets ave a chance to upgrade the PG position, they should probably take it. But like I said, I don't think they actively look to make a move.

This is probably the best post in the thread so far.

Aaron is probably not going to be in the trading block, but I think if a team has a nice offer for him, I think they'll consider it. Aaron is far from untouchable, but he could still be a big piece.

I wouldn't mind trading Tracy and Aaron and get Caron Butler or something. Tracy is a juicy expiring contract in 2010 and Aaron is a solid developing scoring PG.

That's pretty much what I'm saying. Brooks' stock is extremely high right now. If you disagree with trading him and fillers for Barbosa, then fine. It was just my idea. But there's no doubt Morey will be listening.

I don't think AB's stock can get any higher. Here's the problem: he'd have to change his game completely do be a better fit for Yao. Now if we follow your idea and lessen Yao's significance to the offense, that should benefit Brooks.

With Lowry on board, we now have a true PG as well as a scoring PG (or mini SG that can handle the ball like a PG) in Brooks. That gives you some versatility.

Having said that, if we can find the right deal, I can see the Rockets trading Brooks and improving at the PG position.

I think the bigger needs are SG (assuming McGrady doesn't recover) and frontcourt length, particularly backup C.

I hope we can resign Wafer but he definitely seems more like instant offense, backup material a la J.R. Smith. Unfortunately, I don't know if there is any way we'll be able to make any significant upgrade at SG by the start of next season. Addressing this need may take a while. Hopefully, McGrady surprises a lot of people and bounces back.

As far as the frontcourt, it would be nice to find a versatile 4/5 type with good length that can either backup or play next to Yao against some of the bigger teams like the Lakers. Somebody like Camby would be great, in my opinion. He could run with our 2nd unit as well as spread the floor a little playing in the high post alongside Yao. Regardless who he played with (starter or backup), he would add rebounding, shotblocking and better protection of the rim than any of our other current bigs not named Yao, including Chuck.

I can only see brooks getting better for next yr. If anything, we could upgrade another spot on the team before him. He'll come back with a better understanding of playing guard. WeMissDeke will be let down because lowry isnt good enough to take the spot from brooks, period. They need depth and size as usual.

Agree with you here. Morey isn't that type of guy to tr force a trade.

The position that needs to addressed is center, we only have one signed for next year and he can't finish a season healthy. Who can we sign that can step in and contribute when Yao is hurt?

Once again u based a player's performance on Yao. Its whats best for the team, not Yao. I think Yao Ming Mania website is still running, maybe u should go join there.

AB' stock is likely go lower once Yao comes back, he no longer have that much opportunity in that case.

And the team still will make Yao the biggest part of offense. You see it clearly in this series that outside shooting might give you a win here and there, but they can be completely shut off in some games. Inside scoring is way more consistent.

Base players performance on Yao is for the sake of team. Outside shooting team won't get you far in playoffs because they are not consistent.

I know you may not like Yao that much, just like you don't like Battier that much, but both of them have a bigger impact than AB and Wafer in terms of winning and losing at this moment.

Hey, if Adelman decides to not revolve the around Yao next season, I'm all for it. But as long as he is, you would be foolish to not take that into account. As long as this is a Yao-oriented offense, we have to bring in Yao-oriented players and ship out the ones who aren't.

That's unnecessary. He had a pretty legit point there - how does AB fit with Yao? How well players work with each other is one of the bigger concerns a team has to look at, IMO. If a guy is a poor fit for a team's personnel, then that hampers the team. By no means am I saying that AB is a bad fit for Yao or the Rockets in general. But wondering how well players work well with Yao is a fair question. He is still the centerpiece of the franchise, and the player the Rockets are building around, right? If Yao isn't going anywhere, and if Yao is the focal point of the Rockets' development efforts, then it would seem that how a player fits with Yao is a factor that should be considered when evaluating a player.

If my words were too hard to digest, my bad. What i'm saying is adelman will allow brooks to be brooks. He is so explosive that its not natural to hold him down or back. That doesnt mean the team will focus on him or anything, i'm just saying that Yao and Brooks coexist pretty good. Yao needs to evolve his game not only for him, but fo the team. This team plays better quicker and we know that wont be a staple all the time, but this team needs the quick, easy, explosions that brooks can bring. They alo need yao to score down low. Yao needs to continue to shoot the mid range jumper. Yao also needs to do alot of film work to understand the passing angles so he can anticipate the cutters off the ball. This isn't whats best for yao, its whats best for the team.

AB made some consistent mistakes this year that really had nothing to do with Yao being on the floor, such as hesitating on shots and drives which are usually high% shots/drives for him. If he just doesnt hesitate next year, that alone makes him a better player even with the same offense being ran. that definitely would raise his stock and i dont think that's an unlikely improvement from him.

and i'm hoping changing Yao's role would not only benefit Aaron, but everyone else as well. Scola, for example, was underused a lot during the season, as consistent as he was ha should have had some bigger games but didnt because of lack of touches and so much attention being given to forcing the ball to Yao. Landry also showed he's improved his footwork and although he's still not capable of putting up, let's say 15 a game, he's good enough on offense to get more touches and increase his avg pts per game.

PG is the least of our concern. Yes, our PG position isn't perfect, but we need to work on other positions first. Since Deke retired, we NEED a backup center (I say use some MLE and sign Chris Anderson who made a little over a million for the Nuggets this season).

If we don't resign Wafer/Artest, we need to fill that hole unless you want to put all your eggs in White(unproven), Tmac(post-surgery), Berry(old), and Shane.
