Why should point guards be the key to fantasy? Teams generally fill their guard slots up with PGs because they provide better assist numbers, and that's annoying. Keeping the turnover stat restores some balance to the Guard positions by giving you a reason to draft SGs (who may have lower assist numbers but probably also have fewer turnovers to match). Points guards aren't the only players who commit turnovers though. Most the players with high turnovers are just guys who have the ball in their hands alot, and the reason they have the ball in their hands alot is because they're good players (most of them). It's possible to draft good players who hardly turn the ball over, such as Dirk, Ryan Anderson, Al Jefferson ect. but they're at least one tier below the likes of Harden, Durant, Westbrook, and Kobe--4 players who are top 5 in turnovers. Several spots down the turnover list you'll find the best player in the league--Lebron James. A turnovers category in fantasy basketball punishes owners for drafting good players--where's the sense in that? ESPN must agree because their standard category format doesn't include turnovers, although many other hosts such as Yahoo still do. Should turnovers be a category? Vote and discuss.
