    From the business point of view assuming Rockets wants totrade Yao:
    The problem is if you can Hardly get equal value in return. Don't Think Laker will fall for the Gasol/Yao trade. They have good center and good market share. ( Kobe sold more Jerseys than Yao in China)

    Unless Morey can bait the Nets to trade Brook Lopes+Yi Jianlian+filler once Nets realize they won't get any superstar player and under deep financial trouble after 2010. With this trade, Nets will get their star player and China market share, and Rockets will get 2 big man and less China market share from Yi.

    But this only work if Rockets signed a long term contract with Yao then trade him. Nets won't do it if Yao has only one year contract. Another issue will be currently Nets does not have fillers to balance the trade( don't think Devin Harris would consider filler), so we have to see who they would sign on 2010.

    Just saying.
    Don't think franchise player is untouchable. Even Kevin Garnett got traded.

    It is worth considering trading Yao, mainly because he really isn't a good fit with Rick A. If this team is going to run like they do now, then they will have to do it 4 men on 5 men when Yao is in the game. Not to mention, when a big center is in the game it clogs up the lane which makes it difficult for people to drive the lane. I believe that is a huge reason why TMAC stopped driving to the basket when he came to Houston.

    The real value that Yao brings to the Rockets is that he is a cash cow. Up until now, it hasn't been playoff success. When he is on the team (and playing) he a guaranteed to make the all-start team, and if anyone else on the team is playing well with him, he'll usually pull them along with him. Teams make money off merchandise sells, and having Yao makes us one of the most popular teams in the world. Think about it, it is announced that Yao is out for the season, and surprisingly, the rockets don't get any national TV coverage. If you are wondering what "trade value" Yao has, for this reason it is significant. Even if he only plays half the games.

    The Rocket have great chance to improve the team this offseason and next through free agency. Lets not jump on worthless trades like we always do. I think we should be patient and wait for the contract of TMAC and Yao to expire then bring FAs in. All you get in a trade is a player that the other team didn't want anymore.

    A healthy Yao makes this team better. But healthy Yao is an oxymoron.

    You seriously think that him being matched up with Bynum wasn't the reason?! I was singing when I found out PJ was going to keep his lineup in game 1, because over the years I KNEW Yao can't match up with Pau, and I'm not holding that against him because not everyone matches up well with everyone.

    I am not a Yao hater or a tracy mcgrady hater as I am called. I am expressing my honest opinion not that I think Yao isn't a good player or anything, but in terms of the best interests of this team over the next couple of seasons, the rockets would be smart to build a team that can be successfll w/o Yao Ming.

    In other words,

    Hope for the best,

    But prepare for the worst.

    And in regards to to your statement about the GM/Morey plans for the future, I GUARANTEE you that he is looking to build a team that can run on all cylinders as if there was no Yao b.c he can't be depended on. Why? Because a he is a prudent man, and he probably feels the same way about the bolded are.

    I believe I know exactly what you had said. And I believe all the GMs know why you want to deal Yao. So the situation will be:
    If no team takes Yao, your worry is absolutely right, but we have to keep him;
    If a team does take Yao, then the chance is: Rox get robbed.
    So if Morey is as smart as he is, he would not talk about it right now. Or he is determined to be a loser no matter what he does.
