Darko has one good skill, and that is above-average shotblocking. Aside from that he is bad not only from a moneyball perspective, but in almost every traditional way too. He shoots a very subpar % from the field for a big man. He can't shoot FTs. His rebounding numbers are mediocre. He fouls too much. He can't pass. His Ortg and Drtg are both terrible. He has a bad attitude. He is an underachiever. I better stop myself now. This is too easy.
I'd be willing to take Darko as a salary throw-in for the #2 pick. They seem to like him in Minny, so I don't know if they'd view it that way. They probably think he has actual value! Ha!
Cool story - 3 years ago I met McHale in Zagreb (capital of Croatia) on a basketball game where he was scouting Peković.
I'm dead serious. It was at this game - http://www.adriaticbasket.com/stats.php?gameid=187&sez=07 Peković was just dominating, and I'm sure he made a huge impression on McHale.
Didn't Kahn recently suggest Darko could be an All-Star level center (or something along those lines)? Yeah I get it: KAAAAHHHHHNNNNNN Sure, he's an idiot but if he overvalues Darko why should trading for him be a priority of ours? Exhaust your other options first.
Darko (foreign, center, #2 pick) - bust Thabeet (foreign, center, #2 pick) - bust Kanter (foreign, center, possible #2 pick) - uh oh!
Do ya hate on Chuck Hayes that much to the point where ya want two of the biggest bust to replace Chuck Hayes at our center position? Personally Chuck Hayes brings more to the table than those two combine. They together may average 3 blocks a game compare to Hayes drawing like 4-5 charges a game plus his great defense.
