C'mon these were historic in game spreads, -18 and -18.5 everyone knew what to expect given the variables, in game coaching only matters slightly in a close game. It's the system you put in place beforehand that carries the most weight. When Kerr was out w a back injury Luke Walton won an absurd amount of games, I believe he was above .900 win percentage, and that clown is now about to be chased out of LA. Bzdelik may be a better coach, but you can not possible form a conclusion based on these past two games.
lets not go over board, as much as I like Rockets not playing down to the competition. We have literally played two worst teams in the regular season without any of their starters as well as sixth man. These two games, although would have had us as absolute favorites to win, made the game absolute sure shot victories. Harden and CP3 could have had 0 points on 0-30 shooting and I believe their presence alone would still have made these blow out wins. The Clippers win was big, albeit without Beverly, so lets see if we can bring the same focus against a very focused and suddenly winning again thunder
The defense turned it up quite considerably after he came out of retirement. From 11-14 record to 42-14 since.... And this included a whole lot of injuries to key personnel... I bet other teams are looking to hire someone like him as a HC.
The offensive system is harden and cp3. 48 minutes of elite intellectual PG The defensive system is Jeff
It did help we were playing the Knicks and Suns who not only are the worst teams in the East and West respectively, but were sitting out their good players on top of that. But at the same time, the Rockets did come out and stomp all over these squads. Let's not forget how the Pelicans earlier in the season came into Toyota Center with nearly every rotation player out aside from Jrue Holiday and they managed to leave with a win. The real test will be tonight in OKC. If the Rockets not only win, but win handily, I'm gonna start to wonder if there's a difference in coaching style at play here. No, that doesn't mean I'm in favor of Bzdelik getting the gig over D'Antoni, but I will wonder who the real brains behind the operation is.
sounds like the Luke Walton is next great coach take when he was with GS lol @ this thread. playing against 2 absolute garbage "nba teams" with a -20 pt spread in each
My wife who is 5 foot has been wanting to hear from the little guy who never talks to the press. She is shocked that he was everf a head coach.
Not only was Bzdelik once a head coach, he was coaching the Nuggets when Melo was drafted. It was speculated that his personal experience with him(presumably at the defensive end) was why he chose to temporarily retire before the season started.
Funny how all these threads (i guess there's only 2) about the defense being amazing these last 2 games. Either people had forgotten or didnt bother to check that the Rockets defensive rating is #2 behind Utah since the All-Star break. Defense didn't just all of a sudden get better these last two games.
