It’s sort of like us before Harden where we were constantly drafting around 14. But they haven’t been to the playoffs in 16 years! And they’ve already committed to several players. They have to want their team to cash in for someone proven. They could draft Hasheem Thabeet with this pick and set themselves back. I really think I would want a trade as a Sac fan. Drafting is not cutting it.

Interesting, sounds like their FO and their fans are desperate.

The 7th pick only makes sense for Jalen Duren in my opinion. He can fit in quite well with Sengun.

I'm not sure but they would like the Kings to move up in the draft to have a chance at the big 3, no big surprise. I think they also want to move on from the Haliburton fiasco.

I think they should move the pick for multiple pieces to get into the playoffs, and then try to move those established pieces and picks for the big prize, if necessary.

That’s the route I would go. I can’t imagine not giving your fanbase a playoff berth for a generation. You owe your fans that.

I really wanted to make the Wood, 17 trade to Portland for 7 but now with the idea of getting Ivey at 4 or at least having 3 and 4 I like that much better. I want to keep Sengun and even KPJ (6th man seems like the best role for him). Ivey gives you the chance to have an elite defender, decent 3P shooter, and at least decent PG service. With other combo guards that puts less pressure on a floor general.

I do want to tank again and I think we will if we make this trade. You lose the production of Wood, Gordon, Tate, and maybe KMJ along with 17 and MIL 2023. Maybe stars align and you dump Wall for Westbrook and 2027 1st. I also want Jalen Johnson from ATL but don't know how hard that is yet. You then have no more albatrosses hanging on the team. All youngins. They are going to struggle like hell for at least half the season to fit together. It is a good problem to have with a ton of minutes for development. No more stopgaps. Maybe you get Wembanyama. Go into 2023 FA with full arsenal of cap and cupboard of talent maxed out with future picks. I think that would be very attractive to FA with 4 high lottery players and KPJ and Sengun. 2 FAs makes a solid 8 man rotation.

Isn't that what Porter adds to the team already?

TyTy this year. Tyus next year, if we aren't happy with KPJ progression.

How is Ivey an elite defender? KPJ has better chance of being an elite defender over him.

This isn't some finished team. This is the WORST team. It is a team devoid of talent at all levels. We need the best we can get in this and the next draft until we can strike in FA. There are 96 guard minutes. If Ivey becomes the starter alongside Green that leaves space for Porter to fill in a lot of roles and play more natural to his strengths rather than deferring more to Green. They do play well together at times. In this scenario, Gordon and Tate and maybe KMJ are also gone. Porter likely still starts or at least at times fills the wing role like Gordon. The minutes will be there. In this scenario we have Sengun and Paulo (likely) only a portion of 96 minutes at two positions. We will still be short wings. The rest of our roster is Christopher, Guruba, and...

SGA, pick 30, and a second rounder for #4.... maybe even throw in Dort (they don't want to pay him).

But that all gets bungled if we take Ivey at 3.

And that's what we need to do. Block OKC by taking Ivey. Then try to move #17, Wood, EGo, and Tate for #4, or #5, or #7. And simultaneously create max cap room for Kyrie or Harden or some other free agent(s) to walk to us or take on salary for future picks....

That's almost as good of a haul as we got in the Harden trade.

I don't understand y clutch and many folks around here has such a strong desire to trade up to draft ivey.

We already have kpj and a log jam of guards.
We aren't demoting green to bench, kpj fragile ego couldn't handle an unjustified demotion. We give up assets for potential a sixth man? Makes no sense especially when folks want sengun to b used as a trade asset
