Should the Rockets rush Yao back if he is less than 100% ?

If they bring him back before he is ready fans should boycott, seriously.

Also I seem to remember the inital time frame for the return was put at around March 19th, it seems this kept changing but I could of sworn they actually said March 19th was the target return date when the injury first occured.

So based on that, I would say Yao is probably making very good progress.

I rather win 45-48 games and back into the playoffs with a healthy Yao returning than win 55 and risk Yao at anything less than 90%.

NO! I believe a healthy Yao+TMac duo guarantees a second round ticket for you. ;)

If he's ready to play, he's ready to play. There is no way to rehab to 100%, one has to play his way into game shape, so he has to play. Once they fix the issues with the knee brace I think Yao should be good to go. The recent doom-and-gloom statement by JVG revolved around the problems with the brace, which should be easily fixable, unlike say a statement where JVG says that the injury healed imperfectly or something like that.

NO!!! We have to think about the future. Yea tmac may be on his way down from stardom (although lately it doesnt seem that way), but yao has yet to peak. nobody expects us to challenge for the championship even with a healthy yao this year. im sure we can make a big run, but next year we may be able to have a more solid squad. and with a healthy yao, we will be the favorites.

The Rockets are not going to bring him back until he is 100% healed anyway. I think sitting him out any longer than absolutely necessary is insane, however. This team is another Tmac back spasm away from no longer being a contender for several years to come. Nobody wants to say it but this might be the ONLY shot the Rockets have at winning it all. I'm not saying put Yao in before he is ready but put him in the second he appears likely to be.

What's the purpose to bring back Yao right now? To get a win over teams like Celtics? It's so low.

If he can play then the answer to your question is yes. This team really needs home court advantage and it looks like getting it or not getting it will come down to just a few games. Even Bill Worrel said something to the effect that games like the loss to ATL and last night's loss will come back to haunt the Rockets.

Don't bring Yao back if he isn't 100% (and they won't) but don't baby the guy. He needs as many repetitions as possible before the playoffs.

His knee/leg needs to be 100 %, however his fitness level does not need to be. I cant wait until he is back. Its going to be a very happy day for me....win or lose.

I would say no! I dont want to compare the two injuries but didnt the suns bring back Amare Stoudemire to quick last year and he missed all of the playoffs. I really dont remember the situation for Amare Stoudemire, but I could see the same thing happening to Yao.

Exactly, you can't get to 100 % until you get back into real game speed and action.

Easy - NO!!!! Yao comes back when he is completely healed only and has no risk of reinjury. If it's a matter of Yao looking a little out-of-synch for a few games because he is not in shape, that's OK (and frankly expected). If it places him and the franchise at risk then no way. Doesn't even seem to be worthy of debate to me.

I would give Yao as must rest and recover needed, and bring him back with lets say.. 17-16 under his belt going into the playoffs.

He then should be well rested, back into chemistry with the team and be in some sort of game shape.

And then he and T-Mac will lead us to the promise land.

I almost wish the Rockets had some sort of staff... like physicians, or trainers, maybe, who could make these sorts of decisions.

I don't see the point of this thread! if aren't in urgent need of Yao then why bring back Yao who's not fully healthy yet? isn't this obvious?!

It's a fan discussion -- that is the point of the thread.
