"will think about" means no. There is at least one thing in common between TMac and Harden. They both think their team couldn't win because their teammates were too bad.
I think Championships should factor in to this decision, and I usually hate when NBA fans just say "but rings!" without understanding the game. Youre talking about immortalizing someone forever. 20 years from now it will be "because he scored a lot". Doesn't inspire me. His playoff history reads like a tragedy. Ill always feel like this era was a damn shame that we couldn't win, just like 2005 and 2008-2009. To me this is a knee jerk reaction by fans feeling like they lost their security blanket and hero. He's still actively playing for another team in his prime.
Wish him the best....lets hope he don't turn into Melo. Careful what you ask for but I highly doubt it. KD been looking good! Melo never had a big three in his prime. These guys will be hard to cover...Irving and Harden can blow by their man KD can shoot over anyone at the height.
He is the 2nd best rocket ever. Tmac got his surgery so he could stay in Houston. Harden wanted to leave.
I think it’s a no-brainer that you eventually retire his jersey. An MVP and several All-NBA selections, multiple team records. Is there a retired player who accomplished what he did with the Rockets who didn’t have his jersey retired?
Absolutely not. He got everything he ever asked for here and in the end he wasn’t loyal to the team. He forced his way out and he never won a championship. FK Harden.
Is there a retired player who forced his way out without a championship that has his jersey retired by that team? MVPs are personal awards. Not team awards.
I think threads like this are a good way to find out who the cucks among us are....and from the looks of things, there are a LOT of wives available.
The only reason to not retire his jersey is based on a principle of not retiring the jersey of players who force themselves off the team with multiple years remaining on their contract. There’s something to that, I guess. But in terms of his accomplishments with the team, he is clearly deserving.
Do you think a team should only retire the jersey of its greatest player? No? Then of course Harden’s jersey should be retired.
Drexler would be another. Though that separation seemed much more amicable, and he did at least get to the Finals twice.
