Just want to point out that the next game they play will be either Saturday or Sunday...that's a LONG layoff if they don't play on Wednesday.

This is like a fresh-out-of-the-oven Vipers starting lineup. Even DMo has played considerable minutes with the Vipers last year.

All other players on the roster except TJones have not played for the Vipers.

It would be great to see how just these Vipers play two entire quarters in the insignificant Pelicans game, while we rest all our starters plus Lin and Asik.

they can beat the pelicans with covington, canaan, and daniels...those 3 guys alone can beat the 2nd team of the pelicans.

To the best of my knowledge it is conference records and not against your conference. Against the opposing conference. The finals are different than the playoffs. Makes sense too.

What difference does it make if Miami won their division in the east. They probably would have not won any division in the west. And conference record only matters against the opposing conference. It proves we played in a tougher conference and while the records might be tied, if we played in the same conference our record would likely be better.

So it is very possible for us to have the edge over both the Pacers and Heat. Especially considering how Indiana has been playing lately and the fact that they already have secured HCA over Miami. They are not likely thinking we make it out of the west and have more emphasis on winning in the first round so rest is in order.

But this is not a meaningless game. I guarantee Morey knows all the possible outcomes and would love for Houston to win tonight and secure HCA in the finals. A win tomorrow secures HCA at least against Miami and maybe even the Pacers. That's not meaningless. But the meaning in that is amped a little to me because I see a path through the Blazers and Spurs to the west finals.

I do agree with most on here, rest is more important. I would DNP Harden Parsons and Bev. Those guys need it. In Bev's case it's more precautionary. But I want to win tonight and the others I would strategically use to win. If that means playing Lin and Asik some extra minutes I would probably do it.

Not even a question...you do it..

If the Rockets make it to the finals they wouldn't need HCA,

because that would mean they've won round 2 and 3 without HCA.

Not like they will make it to the finals anyway though....(being realistic here)

A simple answer, the Rockets will not make to the finals this year, so we have to rest the starters to have a fresh start in the playoff.

I say you go for the win, but don't play the starters any more than 30-35 minutes. It would suck to somehow end up in the Finals and think that we could have had homecourt if only we had tried against New Orleans. The players will have Thursday and Friday off anyway. We have ONE game left to secure homecourt against Miami. Let's do it!

I agree. This is why clever substitution management is so important.

Resting our starters but still win the game against a losing team. A test for McHale.

Make the game interesting and start the vipers with bench Rox players.
It's a meaningless game. Why risk injury to the best players?
I'm only going to tune in to watch these players start:
    Canaan
    Daniels
    Hamilton
    Covington
    D-Mo

First lets worry about making out of the first round! With that goal set, playing starters for a limited amount of good minutes in that game seems to be a good strategy for getting ready. I do no want to risk our starters with the death squad of the Pelican. No disrespect, those guys are desperate to keep their jobs, and self-proving hungry.

Anything about 30 min is unacceptable. Otherwise get chemistry going and practice executing in game like Spurs starters.

If Miami and Pacers both resting starters with no.1 position still up for grabs why arent. I would make a public announcement like all the other teams... Oh I forgot, we got a lame coach that let's the players run the show.

Give the starters the rest and let the bench stretch out its legs.

Harden and Parsons will not want to play limited minutes to hurt their numbers.

They should sit Harden, Parsons, Dwight, and Beverly. Just no real reason to play them. Bev and Dwight looked fine in the last game, so rust doesn't appear to be a problem.

Bev, Lin, Jones, and Dwight should play the first half. Parson and Harden DNP's. Then let's see what the vipers can do in the 2nd half. Maybe we'll see Covington's sweet jumper in an NBA game. And in 20 minutes I want atleast 10 3PA's from Daniels.
