Landry is our first PF off the bench, he is our energizer bunny....he plays over Hayes and Dorsey...of course you match.

Dorsey goes to the D league until he learns how to move his feet on D and shoot FTs.....

You do NOT let an asset walk, for free, unless it is an OUTRAGEOUS contract....this is a reasonable contract.

    Of course you match....SHEESH !!

I don't think Dorseys going to the Dleauge, we are still very weak at the center (which nobody brings up) He's the next best thing to a real C we got. Mike Harris or strawberry is outta here.

Fran mentioned that Deke might start out the season as a FA until we clear some roster space...

that leaves Yao, Scola, Landry, Hayes and Dorsey as our bigs...

considering the lack of real C's in the league, I am alright with that...might give Dorsey some early opportunities as well

It depends on how big the offer is. If it's less than 4m we definitely should match it, if it's bigger than that then let it go!

Is 3 million a lot for 2 years and 3rd yr team option? I think it depends on how healthy is Landry is with his knee.

The pre-injury landry is worth every pennies of the 3 millions, however post-injury landry wouldn't be anywhere close.

Is Morey sold on his condition? if we match then we are sold and expect him to be in full health. if we don't then well, we will see how long would landry be playing for the bobcats until he goes down.

Another thing, Bobcats isn't known for making any deals with any common sense. They are like a super rich dumb kid around the block handing out free-cash. Look at their GM with drafts and signing contracts. If they eye Landry i don't know if that is a bessing or curse.

    Guys,

If I am not mistaken, once we match, Landry has to undergo a physical, which then allows us to void the contract if he knee is messed up, right?

No risk at all....none....sign the guy.

pay him the Rockets should go all out this year because they are running out of time. A 3 year contract is not a big deal if it does not work out.

I'm afraid the offer will not be matched. Actually would morey like to do that, but it's no way to pay the luxury tax for morey without asking for money from les. Les will never pay even one penny for luxury tax even though he has anounced that he is not reluctant to do so.
long story short, les reminds me of Grandet.

I am not sure that's the true statement. IMHO, this season, the SF and PF positions will be fairly exchangable, meaning, when Scola goes out, then Artest will go to PF, and Battier will play SF.

Whenever defense is needed then Hayes is still a better defender than Landry -- in case Rockets did match him.

Then Dorsey can play better at backup center than Landry since it is his natural position.

All in all, I don't see Landry getting the minutes worth 3 million...

Well, we have until February to get under the luxury tax, plus it isn't paid until the end of the year, and typically goes up 10%. We could trade Head for a draft pick or something, or someone else who isn't pulling their weight.

There's no way he'll let an asset like Landry walk, at that price, unless at the physical they see his knee is gone.

You guys talk about risk. If his knee doesn't pan out, we lose 6 million (obviously cut him for the 3rd year since its a team option year). In NBA money thats nothing.

What we might end up paying Artest next year, thats when you talk about risk. Because he's going to be looking for something like 10-12 million over 4-5 years.
