If they make a big splash in the FA then yes as that would give them 1 or 2 more shots at winning it all. If they don't sign a big FA, then I think the asking price would be too high for a "1 (maybe 2) and done" team.

It's crazy to me that some people would rather keep Brooks, who is young but isn't going to get any taller, on the hope that he continues to improve over Nash, who is still playing at all-time PG level.

If you think Nash can play at a level above Brooks for 3 more seasons, you'd trade Brooks for him no question. Better having Nash for 3 seasons than a younger Kirk Hinrich at the same money.

Nash isnt as prolific a scorer as Aaron, and Nash probably can't play the big minutes Brooks can. You want Brooks at 35-40 MPG for his offense, or Nash at 29-34 MPG with his all around efficient game and better passing?

We talk about Yao, but Nash setting up Kevin Martin on the 3's, Ariza on the fast break and Scola/Jordan Hill would make a beastly offense

I'd like to see Brooks and Nash on the same team for a couple of years. It would be a step back for Brooks to have to take a back seat to one of the best in the game, but he'd learn a lot and become a better/smarter-playing PG himself in the long run. Trade other players, have Brooks and Nash together and let them split time in some logical manner. Yeah, I know...it would likely never happen (there are a lot of "it's not feasible" aspects to consider)...but it's fun to think about the mentorship combined with the actual team play upgrade.

Did we have the cap space to just outright sign Nash like Phoenix did? My recollection is that we didn't. Dallas certainly wasn't going to SnT him to us, so I'm not sure how we'd have acquired him.

    Yes.

Adelman has repeatedly said he adjusts his system to whoever he has on the roster. Also if you haven't noticed they're run & gun this past season and when he's on the bench.

Nash makes $10M this upcoming season. That's not even the max for a player coming off a rookie contract.

Except for the little fact he's one of the best shooters in the NBA today. Hollinger has him rated as all time.

Morey's been on record saying the Rockets need more playmaking.

    Money should be spent elsewhere.

Nash won't fit in the Adelman Offense. Aaron Brooks is a better fit IMO. 5 years ago Nash would've been perfect for this team!

Nash can fit in any offense. Some people mentioned how Shaq didn't work so Yao won't work. Heck, Shaq didn't work with LeBron. A healthy Yao is simply better than Shaq at this stage of Shaq's career.

I don't know why people think Nash can only be effective running and gunning. Watch how Nash plays the half court offense. He can dissect the defense with is passing and shooting.

I agree that Nash's age is the main concern. But if we do get Bosh, I'd say take a chance to win it all NOW.

Right, they didn't thanks in large part to the wonderful management job tuned in by the Rockets but nonetheless, if you wanted to get a player of Nash's caliber, that was the point in time when you had your chance. You don't get many opportunities to get these types of players and they become available, you have to be in a position to take the shot. Unfortunately, for the Rockets, it has been a decade of them being on the outside looking in whenever this happens.
