If we could turn Battier and a couple of assets into Calderon and Bobby's expiring and a couple assets into Mike Miller, that would be a near perfect off-season for me.

yeah except i really like battier. he played like **** offensively against the jazz, but his D was solid. bit i agree, miller and calderon would fit in nicely and that gives me goose bumps just thinkin about it!!!

I always think Morey will do something we never think about them.
Many guys want to trade Battier for Calderon(main players), that is only a deal topic for us to talk about. But it don't mean we can't get Calderon, we just wait for inconceivable deal and I believe it. In particular, Scola's trade is a good sample.

I give you credit for persistence. Project A has a 5% chance of succeeding.
    Project B zero.
I'm no guru and something may work out but I seriously doubt our ability to get Calderon.

Why? expiring contract + 1st round pick, that is a lot!

I doubt they can get much help from a 6M expiring contract. If the Rockets get a player at 25 that the Raptors really want then there is an outside chance of getting him but even then Project A sounds better than Project B IMO.

An expiring contract means little to them when they could just let Calderon walk and not have to pay anything.

In fact, they can use this expiring contract and 1st round pick to trade a good player before trade deadline. I am sure they can get a very good player in that time because some teams will decide to rebuild by then.

Sometimes, you do need an expiring contract to trade someone. For example, Von Horn.

They changed the coach staff, and Alston will be a good backup for T. J. Ford.

well, raptors do need a couple more veterans and a scorer, if they are going to trade calderon, they be looking for a 15p scorer at the very minimum regardless of position.

Which is something that rox is looking for as well. The only way that calderon will come to the rox is that he sign that 1 yr deal with raps and be an unrestricted player.

one question, if raps match the offer for any deal, do calderon have the decision to choose which contract he wants, or he must take the raps contract.

Sorry if this was mentioned, but Calderon would also have BYC implications in any sign-and-trade....I think....? It'd be great to offer BJax + 1st rounder + ABrooks + Lhead, but wouldn't Toronto only be able to take half of Calderon's 1st year salary in return? (i.e., wouldn't we have to involve a third team?)
