Should the Rockets explore KG BEFORE they do the Memphis deal?

Ok remember that rumored Kg-T-Mac deal?

KG and Minny's first round pick (Randy Foye, whom the Rockets "coveted") for T-Mac and the Rockets 2nd round pick (Steve Novak)

Now McHale can say they won't trade KG but we all know that's BS until the right deal came along.

So think about this, why on earth would the Rockets not at least explore this deal once they got Gay?

In getting Gay they essentially would have a replacement for T-Mac, which then makes T-Mac expendable if you are getting KG.

You can sign Mike James, he's the 3rd option KG the 2nd option, Yao first option.

    PG James
    SG TE pickup
    SF Gay
    PF KG
    C Yao

Why would the Rockets not try to get KG now that they could essentially have Gay take T-Mac's place?

I don't understand why they would just trade Gay and Swift for Battier, without even realizing they could instead keep Gay and Swift, let Gay play SF then use T-Mac to try and get KG.

JJ Redick has left the room. It's now time to back away from the keyboard.

Gay is not a Rocket anymore. The deal is done and there is no way to get out of it.

With Dawson's recent history of "selling low, buying high", we would probably need to include both Yao and McGrady in any deal for Garnett.

Ric Bucher later recanted that Tracy for KG deal, saying that it was just a rumor that turned out to be untrue.

NICE TRADE IDEA! It's the best I've heard. Except for one time when I traded 3000 dollars to Jerry West for a shrivelled dead slug and a piece of used dental floss. HA HA, JEDI MIND TRICK MY ASS!

    GREAT TRADE IDEA! OKAY #1!

T-MAC is going to put all the disbelievers to shame next season, he did struggle with his back last season but I think he is going to tear it up this upcoming season. I still have the same excitement about T-MAC like when I first heard he was coming to the Rockets, I could never watch them trade him.

Perhaps the Rockets were right not selection Gay. But they should of received more from Memphis.

Clutch any chance when this deal is announced on July 12, we will hear something about future draft picks, etc.... Would we have heard about draft picks on draft night, if that were included. Or are they so trivial, that only players are rumored in the deal?
