Jason lane no where near so good as dalgy or Cruz,or Everett doesn't have the speed or throwing arm.

What are you basing this on? In limited ML at bats, Lane has shown to be a solid hitter.

solid hitter he not a centerfielder that just one of the astro needs .Cruz or Everett are both better than he is at this point it's time to win know not later. If you want to wait on Lane to become a better defensive player we may as well wait on Colin Porter or Henri Stanley.

Why do you say that Cruz is a better player? He has been average at best for most of his career. He had a couple of good HR years a few years ago, but has been very average since.

Also, Cruz has not played much CF recently.

He is so good that his manager found it necessary to bench him in their most important game of the year (game 5 vs. Marlins). He is so good that he got most of his at bats this year batting 8th in a lineup with only Barry Bonds as a consistent offensive threat. He hit a whopping .189 with runners in scoring position.

Offensively, Cruz is essentially (statistically) the same as Biggio. Defensively, he is a much better right fielder than Biggio is a center fielder, but it is hard to say how much better he would be in CF than Biggio.

Personally, I'd rather see an OF of Berkman, Biggio and Hidalgo than Berkman, Cruz and Hidalgo.

you have to realize though, that cruz put up his stats in a park that is very much a pitcher's park, while biggio put his up in a hitter's park.

Except Biggio's OPS was 90 +/- points higher on the road (.806 vs. .718), and Cruz's was 50+ points higher at home (.808 to .752).

No matter how you slice it or spin it, Cruz is not a drastic improvement over what the 'Stros have.

i think the people who want Jose Cruz Jr. think somehow he's gonna be like his daddy, which obviously hasn't happened and probably never will.

I just want a center fielder who can track down a fly ball and throw people out.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't Cruz Jr. 2nd behind Hidalgo in outfield asists? Plus Cruz can be a threat on the basepaths, unlike Biggio.

Heck, Bagwell led the team with stolen bases and that's not saying much about our team speed.

Jose Cruz Jr is overated. Here are his stats. He isn't an upgrade over Biggio. If you want an upgrade then talk about a guy like Carlos Beltran.

Jose Cruz Jr. has a career batting average of 251. He career on base percentage is 336. He only has 91 stolen bases in his entire career, 5 of them last year and 7 the year before. Gerry Hunsicker isn't going to waste a roster spot on him

RF and CF are two entirely different positions. Just because Cruz can throw out runners from RF doesn't mean he can track down fly balls or throw folks out from CF. If you're using OF assists as a criteria, Biggio was 3rd among all CFs in the NL and 5th in the entire ML.

Why do you say Cruz is a threat on the base paths?

Wasn't Cruz the one that dropped two fly balls against the Marlins?
