ok really though. terrorists who attacked on september 11th were from afghanistan. not iraq. and frankly the experts and the adminstration have acknowledged that al qaeda at least today isn't an actual organization but more like a loose confederated entity. meaning some random guy in iraq whos pissed that the US is there probably has no clue if al qaeda was gonna bomb the london underground nor cares and perhaps doesn't really support it.

so just because some bitter random guy in iraq wants to shoot as the US military and perhaps he was once a part of the iraqi military...how does that make him a non-uniformed terrorist who only targets civilians? and who determines that?

the process needs transparency. obviously since the administration is making up its own rules...its hard to get that transparency. and without transparency theres no checks and balances.

if you caught OBL and did torture would many of us practically object even if we believe its morally wrong? not many. however the random guy in iraq who drove a taxi which had a bag of fertilizer in the back because he was gonna go put it in his backyard...should he be tortured?

The link was posted zillion times, do you really think people care? They believe what they want to, or what those they have faith in tell them to.

    the report also said this....

In February 2003, Secretary of State Colin Powell told the United Nations that Iraq was harboring Abu Musab Zarqawi, a "collaborator of Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda lieutenants," and he said Iraq's denials of ties to al Qaeda "are simply not credible."

am i not allowed to believe that?

You do know that Powell has since stated that that speech was the lowest point in his career and that he wished he'd never have given it right?

Geneva Convention is a pact between governments. Terrorists belong to no state. We can't go out and gas terrorist training camps....they can gas civilians. So this debate isn't a legal issue but rather a discretionary one.

It's a morally hypocritical POV but very pragmatic.
