If I was in H-town I think it would be a load of fun, but I'm not. If I had rainbow stickers I wouldn't dream of leaving those or any others at the door.

I just was wondering what you were basing your statement on that Dems back down in person.

For the record I am not a Dem. I'm left of democrat.

I wouldn't really take it too seriously.

I'm in political discussions all the time, and I don't note any patterns, beyond the fact that the more radical a person is (from left or right) the louder and more angry they can get, and the more moderate a person is, the more calm they are. That's just in general.

The most agro people I've ever argued with are the fringe lefties in San Francisco.

    Hmm.

Faced a line of Texas Rangers during protest at the Bush I commencement speech at UT.

Protested at Lloyd Bentsen's UT commencement. About 12 of us in a hostile crowd of thousands.

Braced by the cops at a G7 summit in Houston.

I'm sure Fatty won't hesitate to launch into an incoherent drunken rant at any BBS or bar you can name (as long as its smoking), but I also have no doubt he'd be pissing his pants if he ever faced real confrontation for his political beliefs.

In the interest of full disclosure -- I can't believe I'm giving them fodder -- I think Eddie Vedder had a ritual of impaling a George W. Bush mask on stage during Pearl Jam's 2003 tour.

Agree with the last sentiment, but what people always forget about that line was that it was uttered during a sketch. Not an interview. A pre-planned sketch that had Conan O'Brien wielding an oxygen mask to calm Baldwin down.

Facing a draft, Nugent bravely wet his pants
Rocker is all talk as he calls Obama, Hillary vile names

    August 27, 2007
    BY RICHARD ROEPER Sun-Times Columnist

So Ted Nugent roams a concert stage while toting automatic weapons, calls Barack Obama "a piece of -----" and says he told Obama to suck on one of his machine-guns. He also calls Hillary Clinton a "worthless b****" and Dianne Feinstein a "worthless w****."

That Nugent, he's a man's man. He talks the talk and walks the walk, right?

Except when it was time to register for the draft during the Vietnam era. By his own admission, Nugent stopped all forms of personal hygiene for a month and showed up for his draft board physical in pants caked with his own urine and feces, winning a deferment. Creative!

Ah, but that was a long time ago. Nugent isn't just a washed-up rocker -- he's a right-wing madman who's not afraid to call out some of the leading Democrats in language so vile it makes the Dixie Chick Natalie Maines' comments about President Bush sound like a love poem.

You'd think even someone such as Sean Hannity would dismiss Nugent as a macho clown, desperate for attention.

    Yeah, right.

In a discussion on his show last week, Hannity refused to condemn Nugent's remarks, saying, "I like Ted Nugent . . . he's a friend of mine," and even laughing loudly as Alan Colmes read the transcript of some of Nugent's remarks.

Funny. I don't remember Hannity being so cavalier about the Dixie Chicks went they criticized Bush.

Not that he's operating under a double standard or anything.

Google "Ted Nugent" and "Vietnam." The Freep article with his original quote will make you sick to your stomach, on several levels.

I'm liberal and I'm not offended by these comments in the slightest. Does anyone seriously think Ted Nugent is a threat to Clinton or Obama? Seriously? Because if not, who gives a ****? George Bush can suck on my machine gun and Condoleeza Rice can take a ride on my machine gun. Never mind I'm too liberal to actually have a machine gun. (or any other gun for that matter)

there were plenty of people who thought the dixie chicks were a threat to bush just because they said they were ashamed that he pretends he is a texan. they got reamed just for saying they were ashamed of their president (at this point, about 70% of the country agrees) while nugent tells clinton and obama to suck his machine gun and the very people who screamed the loudest about the dixie chicks get a big laugh out of it. seems a tad hypocritical.

i guess his rant has to do w/ their anti-gun agenda. the irony though is that nugent continues to support a president whom even former republican congressman and nra board member bob barr has said is more anti-gun than clinton.

(do not let my post lead yall to believe that i support hillary, obama or the dixie chicks)

Of course it was just as bad as the Dixie Chicks comment. The biggest difference was that the Dixie Chicks pissed off their fan base, whereas Ted didn't. That was why the Dixie Chicks were stupid.

So you speak your mind but liberals are non-confrontational. Yet the Dixie Chicks speak their mind and they're stupid? I thought you'd applaud them, especially when they did it w/ the obvious consequences of a backlash from the country crowd.

Fatty is so confrontational, I bet he will confront you for confronting this obvious logical flaw, despite not having much with which to confront. That is how confrontational he is.

    No, fattyfat is consistent here.

Nugent did not "piss off" his "fan base" because the set of his fan base includes zero people. Pretty clever of him, no?

i would argue that telling someone to suck on a gun barrel and calling them a punk, piece of **** or b**** is alot worse and more threatening than saying you are ashamed that bush claims he is from texas.

Nuge's fan base that would be upset by his recent comments have long left him behind. IOW Nuge has been talking "stupid" for decades.

Be proud, conservatives, be very proud. The title to the thread is off-base becasue there's no reason to arrest Ted Nugent for his sophisticated diatribe.
The great thing about free speech is that is exposes ignorance.

why is it that relentless ridicule of bush and his admin is applauded, but when it goes the otherway its a horrible thing to do?

    hypocrisy at its best.
