Yeah I agree. I’m sure there’s some vision there and we know Stone doesn’t think Wood is it since he was in that deal with Wall to the Lakers. I hope he doesn’t think KPJ is it either. But the way KPJ has played hard to think why Stone would. I can’t blame Stone and his team either. They made a move to improve the roster post Harden and bought low on Wood and KPJ to fill in the always awkward and post star transition period (remember the Kevin Martin years). We knew Martin and Miller wasn’t it and it was weird and tough to watch at times but it was a transition period pre Harden. So we are in a similar situation. Where will we be in the next couple years? What moves will we make? I think this is something to be excited for.
You may be right and I do think he has a part to do with that but we simply don’t have a “real” team or a team Silas wants or envisioned in my opinion. I just think fans need to be realistic and exercise patience until we see good players then let’s judge him more closely.
I know Wood is an easy target because he is playing out of position. He does play defense, just not where they need him. He is a 3/4, not a 5. I agree Tate is too short and Sengun is too young. For the Rockets to take the next step, they need a legit HEAD COACH, a center and another forward. I'm still on the Myles Turner train. I would use the Nets #1 this yr and another asset to trade for Turner. He gives us the paint presence we need. Hopefully, they can get the #1 pick and get Smith. Center - Turner PF - Wood SF - Smith SG - Green PG- Porter
Silas inability or fear of experimentation in season (nevermind during actual games) further emphasizes the difference between coaches like him and coaches like Mike D'Antoni.
There was a reason that Harden reached out to Doc Rivers when he became available. There is a reason why Harden and Westbrook advocated for Ty Lue. And also John Lucas. And we all saw how Silas played Harden. Gave Wall the rock and asked our BEST player to play off ball. Harden did not trust Silas ... or Stone. For a very good reason.
10 straight loses. And counting. No other team has a losing streak this tragic, even ORL have been better after AS break.
Sengun Wood Gordon Green KPJ That lineup would win a few too many games and I think they know that. I don’t think Silas is allowed to win as much as possible, there must be an agreement.
Funny thing just occurred to me while venting in the Nix thread and another guy mentions, “I see why you're asking but the answer is as simple as ever. Silas isn't a good coach and extremely stubborn” I laughed and nodded because he’s right. It’s the damn truth. I responded, “Yeah file this under my long list of questions I’ve had this year” and came here to complain in a more appropriate setting. Now you may not agree with all of my list, but I think overall it’s pretty damn solid haha. I’m out on Silas barring some drastic shift. 1. Why is KPJ starting at point guard instead of on the wing? 2. Why is Daniel Theis starting? 3. Why is Wood bringing the ball up the court? 4. Why doesn’t Sengun play more minutes. 5. Why is Jalen Green standing in the corner? 6. Why is Sengun above the 3 point line so much? 7. Why isn’t Sengun getting the ball in the high or low post? 8. Why doesn’t Jalen Green get to handle the ball more? 9. Why didn’t we trade Wood and Gordon? 10. Why didn’t we waive Schroder? 11. Why did Josh Christopher’s minutes get cut? (Now he sucks) 12. Why aren’t we playing Nix as the backup point guard? Edit: Oh yeah 13. Why isn’t Jalen Green getting 4th quarter minutes to work out some things and build his confidence up?
13. Why Silas didnt teach Wood how to set a proper screen? like this is a basic basketball stuff, not a rocket science....you dont need to be a high octane x and os coach to do this Stubborn and lazy i would add...definitely lazy... no any attention dedicated to a little detail...
Young in the sense that he still fouls too much. He needs to learn to play defense with his feet and not his hands. Don't take it that I don't like Sengun, I do but I think he needs more experience.
You mean, to the extent this is actually even true - and in the past you have been a not entirely reliable narrator on things - he did not build his offense around the guy who asked for a trade 2 months before who quite literally was staging a work slowdown on the court? Lol. I can think of negatives against Silas but when folks resort to fake reasons it actually hurts the case against him.
Ok i will go ahead and believe that Harden requested a trade prior to the 20-21 season - which he did.
