Rumsfeld and Ashcroft are a disgrace to Americans. They taint the picture of the American politician in the world.

If they were really Machiavellian, they would fire him, get a new secy of defense in with a new gameplan for Iraq, use Rumsfeld as a scapegoat for what went wrong and have the voters so confused between spin and reality that Bush wins reelection.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Escalating criticism of the Bush administration's handling of the U.S. military's abuse of Iraqi prisoners raised new questions Thursday as to whether Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld would hold on to his job.

Two Bush advisers, speaking on condition of anonymity, said Thursday that Bush stood firmly behind Rumsfeld despite what one called the "mild rebuke."

They said it was important that the Arab world and the American people know that Bush was unhappy with the way he was informed of the prisoner abuse, suggesting that leaking word of the rebuke was a political and diplomatic maneuver rather than a signal that Rumsfeld's job is in trouble.

Rumsfeld can't be too reassured by Bush's "firm" support, given Bush's track record of flippity flops (Dept. Of Homeland Security, 9/11 commission, appearing for the the 9/11 commission, negotiating with N. Korea, etc. etc. etc.).

It's such an obvious plan isn't it. Perhaps George isn't so smart after all.

Rummy has roots and angles like a mo-fo. Think how long he's been around that town as a playa. I don't think it's as simple a game for Walker Bush as it may seem from the outside.

And Donald Henry Rumsfeld has a decent bit of pride, obviously. Can you not picture him on the phone, saying to Walker Bush "If I go down, I'm taking some people with me."

Well he doesn't have to really be hurt by the fall. He takes one for the team. Team makes sure he's well taken care of. This is politics, afterall. Surely the Bush production team could run with this storyline.

But maybe they figure it'll just blow over.

    And maybe they're right :(

Rumsfeld is testifying right now and McCain just got through slapping him around. Go McCain. It's about time someone made these guys answer questions, instead of hemming and hawwing.

I'll say what my 8 year old daughter's coach tells her when she's at the plate, "Focus."

It's about Rumsfeld. Frankly, it's better for Democrats if he sticks around continuing to make Bush look bad for keeping him. But he's hurting the troops in the field and the country by remaining, so this Democrat wants him gone, ASAP.

So would your reaction be different if it were Iraqi soldiers doing this to Americans in America?

are you inferring that Americans act like animals towards other Americans and non-Americans in our country?

Another hypothetical question. Do you have anything concrete to compare it to?
