In an effort to keep these threads to a minimum, let's get this out of the way right now. The following players are free agents: HTML: http://realgm.com/src_freeagents/ I personally think Vontego Cummings could be a great addition! Lenny Cooke was the 3rd best scorer in the Manilla league last season and he's STILL AVAILABLE, get it done CD! I would make a joke about getting Joe Johnson but someone already started a serious thread about it. *sigh.
Easy, fellas. It's a fair question, and not totally out of the realm of possibility. If he agreed to less money from the Nets, it is conceivable in this universe that he would consider the offer. It's not like he suggested signing Derrick Coleman with the LLE. Besides, what the heck else are we going to talk about now, the WNBA?
uh, but he likes to play on sucky teams. why do u think he nixed the nets deal? they had a winning record. i'd prefer SPREE ON THIS TEAM!
I see your user name fits you. But it's basically out of the realm of possibility. He chose the Nets because they offered him a starting position at PF and were going to pay him a little over the MLE. He would basically be turning down atleast 5M/year to come play for us when we couldn't guarantee him a starting position or anything. Derrick Coleman is the type of player we can get for the LLE, not a player in his prime who has done 20 & 9 for his career.
Assuming this were a Thread with substance, how would the Rox succeed in trading for SAR? Stevie revenged against Leslie by refusing all overtures on an SnT for Damon -- so why expect a change of heart with SAR?
If we can sign him I would. If they would trade Howard for him I'd do it. Why not, it's plain and simple, he is good. This is only if he doesn't want a bunch of money.
IMO, trading Howard and dumping a contract would be a sweet deal for us, but face it (as someone said earlier), SAR is NOT going to play backup at this point in his career, regardless of what NJ may have done to his reputation.
Umm, doesn't anyone think that it might be, umm, maybe, at least a little bit mind you, um, er, PRUDENT, to consider the fact that NJ actually chose to send him packing rather than take him on, even for as little money as he signed for, because of his 'health issue' ? Surely it would be wise to stop a moment and think about what could be so wrong with him that NJ would not want him anymore.. isn't there some little spark of two brain cells rubbing together somewhere that might say 'Hey, maybe WE wouldn't want to have him either then?' duhhhhhh Besides, we got our man in Swift, who was our first choice anyway. SAR is just going to have a career as one of those 'stats' guys, who ends up never even coming close to winning anything.
Swift didn't want to be backup any more. SAR didn't want to be backup anymore. You don't see a problem with signing them both - for below market?
NO BODY is saying that SAR is a bad pickup, its just no going to happen. Read the papers, SAR was offered less money by the Nets after he failed his physical and he turned it down (something about being insulted) - so you have to work out a Sign & trade - only problem for the Rockets IS, they just tried to work a sign & trade with Portland and the Blazers rejected them ! ..so turn the page !
