Martin would be an excellent Robin to someone else's Robin. He puts up numbers, but isn't dominant and plays subpar defense. If we do in fact land a player like Carmelo (not saying it's likely to happen) without having to trade Kevin, then we would have a 1-2 punch that's tops in the league with Martin and Melo/someone else as defenses would collapse on Melo/someone else, and create even more opportunities for Kevin.
He landed awkwardly in overtime vs. the Jazz. He was laying there in pain for a few seconds so it makes sense, but its probably not as bad one might think. They just want to make sure he can have full use of his wrist because its his shooting hand. -As for trading Kevin Martin... Sure, at the right price. The guy is a second tier star and borderline All-Star. He shouldnt be traded for anything less. If the team can upgrade other positions that are in much more need than shooting guard then I say go for it. -Would have been amazing though to see him and Yao Ming play together. I dont know if Im more sad about Kevin Martin and Yao Ming than I am about just Yao Ming. Either way it just plain sucks.
This i really think they should for cap space and picks. Cleveland and Toronto might bite using their TE's for some picks. But i doubt it ever happens, because i think the orginization feels they are only one or two pieces away from being elite and imo i don't think they'll get there. I think they fell just short of that. We'll see what happens at the deadline.
I voted yes, BUT there should have been a depends option. No one on this team at this point is untouchable, but it depends on who/what you can get in return!
Go take a look at Martin's shot attempts per games, and compare to all the other top 30 scorers in the league. How does he 'take touches away'? That's silly. He can easily be the leading scorer on any good team (hell, Ray Allen was almost the leading scorer of that 07-08 Celtics team), but you have to have 2 other good defenders (one on the wing, one at the bucket) to mask his flaws. I do agree I'd trade him for Bogut, Howard and maybe Brook Lopez, but if it's a 'good' center the Rockets are looking for it all kind of falls off from there. What we need is a defensive center, and trading Martin for one who is defensively minded either doesn't make sense for the teams who have those guys (ie the Celtics, the Blazers), or is a bad trade for us (ie the Kings, who actually fall into both categories).
