It'll be nice to get Wallace by trading Cato plus some garbage players. The Rox is playing well and the group of players they collected seem to have good chemistry on the court in terms of competitiveness. Getting another superstar will definitely propel Rockets toward a Championship team. I think Wallace and Ming will form the next twin towers for many years to come and these 2 players will be light years ahead of the Spurs twin towers. I would trade Mobley and one of the big men (Cato or Taylor) for Wallace RIGHT NOW!!!! The reason is Mobley is a player that you can replace EASILY because player like him are a dime in a dozen in this league. Plus, Mobley from what i seen of his game IS NOT a fundamental player. He likes jacking up shots and forcing shot and tend to make bad shot selections.

The best bet is picking up sheed when he's a free agent after the season.

Ideally, Trade exeption + Cato + draftpick and someone like Boki if needed for him in a sign and trade after the season. It just depends on the level of interest the Blazers have in our players.

I can't stand the guy. It is so much harder to root for a team when there are guys on the team whom you cannot stand.

Therefore say NO to Rasheed Wallace.

I don't really see how option D fits into this poll...

At any rate, we don't need Sheed. As much as we need quality players, we also need quality people. We are a young team, and will obviously be affected by someone who smokes pot, pegs teammates in the back, and is as volatile on the court as well as off. He's a great player, but personality-wise, unless he shapes up, I don't think we need him. Besides, we'd have too many Ts on the team then, too many free throws given away, with Stevie and Sheed on the same team.

I was suprised to learn just now that Wallace has Mo Taylor-esque rebounding stats. Is it because he plays for Portland or is he just not a good rebounder?

he would be a perfect fit. He can shoot the 3 which will help spread the floor and yao operate, and is unselfish. He also can play Defense. And i think JVG likes him b/c i remember i compliment jeff made about him before. GET HIM!!!!!!!

    NOOOO!!

Yeah, let's trade our entire team's future and championship hopes for one decent power forward who has never won anything...

AHHHHHH, why does this sound so familiar?

Oh what coulda been, what coulda been (Dream, Drexler, Horry, Cassell...) sniff, sniff.

#1. We would not be trading our entire team's future, in all likelyhood it would be Cato and Cat for Rasheed. Two 28 year olds for a 29 year old, its not like trading two really young players like Cassell and Horry for a mid-thirties Barkley.

#2. Rasheed is not a decent power forward, over the last three years he's averaged 19 and 8, while shooting a pretty good percentage from downtown, far from decent.

I heard portland does not want AJ contract because it is for 4 more years. I was watching the best damn sports show and I heard that rasheed only wanted to be traded to like 3 teams and one of them was houston but who knows!

That's an interesting question. I don't think this year's stats is a good reflection of his ability since he's playing SF next to Randolph. At the same time, he's never averaged great rebounding numbers. (Career: 6.7 rpg over 34.7 mpg; High (01-02): 8.2 rpg over 37.5 mpg)

I think he can rebound when he wants to. He's been criticized in recent years for settling for outside shots. Still, I don't know why he hasn't averaged very good rebounding numbers.

I believe that Dallas will end up getting Wallace. Does not mean we can't get in on the action. Wallace was rumored at the beginning of the season to have been offered for Griffin and Cato. Well now there is no Griffin so how about Cat who is more effective than Griffin ever was. I say we try to work a three-way alon these lines:

Houston trades: SG Cuttino Mobley (15.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.4 apg in 39.6 minutes)
    C Kelvin Cato (6.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 28.1 minutes)
Houston receives: SF Antawn Jamison (15.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.0 apg in 30.2 minutes)
SG Derek Anderson (11.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.0 apg in 24.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: +5.0 ppg, -3.2 rpg, and -0.4 apg.

Dallas trades: PG Tony Delk (6.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 16.3 minutes)
SF Antawn Jamison (15.6 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.0 apg in 30.2 minutes)
Dallas receives: SF Rasheed Wallace (17.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.7 apg in 36 games)
Change in team outlook: -4.9 ppg, -1.6 rpg, and +0.9 apg.

Portland trades: SG Derek Anderson (11.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 3.0 apg in 24.8 minutes)
SF Rasheed Wallace (17.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.7 apg in 38.3 minutes)
Portland receives: SG Cuttino Mobley (15.4 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 3.4 apg in 41 games)
    C Kelvin Cato (6.2 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.0 apg in 40 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.6 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 0.8 apg in 29 games)
Change in team outlook: -0.1 ppg, +4.8 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

Dallas gets another scoring punch with Wallace and have been reportedly very interested in getting him.

Portland gets Cato who provides them with much needed rebounds and competent center. Mobley and Delk provide scoring and some guys that can play point or sg now that McInnis is gone in the Miles trade.

Houston gets Jamison who is exactly what we need. He can score so defenses can't collapse on Ming, he can rebound and just flat out spread the floor. Anderson is not really a downgrade from Mobley and money really doesn't matter because this team would be in contender status.

    Ming/Padgett/Weatherspoon
    Jamison/Taylor/Weatherspoon
    Jackson/Nachbar
    Anderson/Pike
    Francis/Jackson/Wilks

Despite the rumored Jamison deal with Dallas, I think the Blazers only want young players with potential (i.e. - guys like Eddie on rookie-scale contracts) and/or contracts that expire in 2005 for Wallace. I really don't think any of our trade assets are of interest to Portland.

The Rox should wait until Rasheed becomes a free agent before pursuing him. Giving up Cat and Cato is too much for Wallace, and I like the way the team is gelling right now, besides the fact that Wallace is trouble wherever he is.

No, there is too much risk attached to it.

The priority for the Rockets is the coherence, chemistry on the offensive end. The Rockets have the size to play with almost every team in the league, especially at the defensive end. On offense, all talent & skills are there, it's a matter to mesh them together.

Wallace might work out for the Rockets, might not. Plus, his contract is too big to take.

    Imagine a lineup of
    Yao
    Wallace
    JJ
    Steve
    Brent Barry

    Cat 6th man.

Can you say championships for the next 10 years?

I do think a rotation of

    Yao
    Wallace/Mo Tay
    Barry/JJ
    Cat
    Steve/good backup PG

    could contend for a championship.

I think you bring in Barry and Wallace now. Lets do some damage make the playoffs see if we can get hot in contention and build for the years down the road. Never wait till next year b/c someone will always pass you up.
