In a league of prima donnas and thugs, having a class act like Chuck around is most assuredly a benefit....

Well, not yet...after all, Kevin is as yet unproven as a head coach, only having one or two seasons (and a losing record overall), but I'll give him a couple of years with the Rockets to get his footing. But yeah, definitely hire Chuck as an assistant to let him prove himself a little on the bench.

After all, you never know--we might strike gold. What did Phil Jackson and Pat Riley do as players that people remember? All we talk about are their coaching prowess. (Granted, there are a LOT of things we Rockets fans could say about Phil Jackson, but I can't deny that at least SOME of his rings were indeed earned properly, particularly in the Bulls days.)

And on the opposite end, success as a player does not guarantee success as a head coach. See: Bill Russell (post-Celtics), Magic Johnson, Clyde Drexler, etc.

...Or is there a joke I'm not getting?

Not if he's contributing. And he would be.

I remember the mavs doing this for a player for a year, then he signed the next year. It wast a heart thing, it was more of a lower leg/foot thing. Well wishes to chuck, but mchale prbably has his guys and guys behind them.

Alexander runs Rockets like a business. Mickey Arison runs the Heat like a cult.

We need to get more cultish! Beginning with our spiritual leader Chuck!

    So answer this question?
How is supposed to take a job as an assistant if he does not know how good his health is?
Last time I checked you have to be in a good condition health wise to get a job, even as an assistant.

What about him wanting to go to Sacramento first place and not waiting for other offers? Was he in love with the Rockets, Houston so much that he can't pass us up? Or didn't he like the way GM and owner handle players and their contracts?

I recommend not fall in love with either, the GM, the owner or the players to a degree. Stick to your organization.
