Of course they do, but any team missing two of it's best players is going to struggle.... And while Brooks is no Kobe, he is the engine that makes our team go..... DD
My point about the rotations is not that they would produce more wins, but that he ran the starters into the ground and we have another game tonight against a quality opponent. He should have gotten Hill and Ish in there to give Kyle and Miller a blow....and that 18-0 run to start the 4th might have happened anyway, but it could't be any worse, could it? LOL. Agree about an ineffective Yao and where this team stands. Regarding Adelman - and defining whose team it is....THAT IS HIS JOB !!!! If there is no clear leadership or hierarchy, it is on him to create one, to define the roles on the floor..... If he is not doing that, then he is part of the problem. DD
BUT WE ARE ALWAYS MISSING YAO!!!! that's the whole point!!! if he's "healthy" we get him for 24 mpg, provided he didn't just play the night before. I can't pin that to Adelman.
You know I agree with you here, if he is not going to be healthy or we are trying to shoe horn him into 24 minutes, I would rather the team move on without him. DD
I was thinking about why this team is so bad compared to that team 2 years ago, even when that team didn't have Yao. There are a couple key differences. 2 years ago we had a closer in Carl Landry. And 2 years ago we also had one of the best defenses with Battier and Artest together. It wasn't a perfect team, but it was more balanced than now. This team is just built different now. No closer and no consistent defense.
Firing Adelman isnt the answer....We need to go ahead and make one of these deals happen...If we have the "assets" that people say we do (becasue I dont see it), then stop bullfartin and put something on the table...That way we control the situation...And stop waitin on Melo....his supportin cast is better in Denver and he aint won a damn thang....Lets get It!!!!
As I said, that is not a good strategy, because you have to have a willing partner to trade with..... If that is the strategy, the team is just circling the airport hoping for a landing spot....meanwhile the fans are running low on fuel. DD
obviously we havent had a willing partner period...Lets call the shots .....We put a package on the table and tell teams come get it....HIghest bidder wins
This team has no foundation. No core to build around. No other coach or different rotation is going to fix that. We sucked when Brooks was on the court, we suck now that he's off the court. Same with Yao. Time to press reboot and start over. FYI, I didn't decide that this morning, I said it after we lost to the lakers 2 years ago. That year was our "all in" year and we should have started over when it didn't pay out.
The core has to be set by Adelman, did we suck with Brooks on the floor? I don't know...because I think having to integrate Yao was a major issue. Yao and his time limit or expiration date, are the anchor holding this team down, from whatever direction they need to be going. DD
I think you're missing the bigger issue here. When I say "core", I'm not talking about this year's player rotation.... I'm talking about the direction of the franchise for the next 10 years...
Yeah, I agree, we have been waiting on Yao for the last 5.......until that is decided, there is no direction, just a general gathering of assets, and hoping for lightning to strike in a trade. DD
absolutely..artest leaves...yao has a killer surgery after 4 previous seasons cut short by injury and growing older on that frame....that was it.
My point is that it was (or should have been) decided 2 years ago when he limped off the court in Game 3 against the lakers. That was the beginning of the end and it was short-sighted to think any different.
We have a core ...It just wasnt the the kind of core to build...Teams need role players and a good number two option....Unforturnately we have a plethora of role players and 3 good number two options....We dont have a superstar...Someone to take over the game......Everyday fans give a rat's azz about how it looks 10 years from now....There is a 3 year window ....UNfortunately our 3 year window was when T-MAC and Yao couldnt stay on the court together.......
You know, I have been saying all along that it is really about next year, after the team decides what to do with Yao. It is just tough to look at it that way during the season. Clearly, they had no choice but to try with Yao one more time, because he is owed $$$$ on his contract. It will be interesting to see what DM can do without Yao on the team, if that is the direction they are headed, and it looks like that is the case. If not, then this team is really not about winning but about making $$$ over all else. Love Yao, but it is just time to move away from him as a player. DD
This is not even remotely true and this is why the Rockets have repeatedly tried to acquire, inter alia, Stoudemire, Bosh, Paul, Anthony etc within the last 2 years, only to come up empty handed save for Martin, who is not of that caliber. And those are just the ones we know about.
Thats every owners goal!!! Winning 1st because that draws revenue...and if you aint winning , might as well make revenue some other way....If I'm Leslie Alexander, Yao goes nowhere anytime soon....
