Yes i know mar1juana is legal in some states but i was wondering do you think it should be legal period or do you think it should stay as it is because i have been reading and seeing on the news that people die from smoking cigarettes but you never hear or see that on the news somebody has died from smoking mar1juana  do you agree or disagree.

Legal. Alcohol kills people. Cigs kill people, yet they're legal. Smoking weed is better than doing both of those things too.

"Unjust laws are meant to be broken" - Thomas Jefferson. (Or something along the lines of that)

Weed is illegal because the alcohol and tobacco companies lobby to keep it illegal at all costs.

Regardless, both will inevitably destroy your lungs and liver respectively. Its better to just not do either.

If history could be re-written back in the days after prohibition, knowing what we know now, it would have been mar1juana that was made legal and alcohol banned.

Now that it is what it is they would never go back and say, 'hey we (the government) tried to be your parents again, and again we screwed up.

It's just as much the fact that it's the easiest way to keep prisons full.

Full prisons = incrased funding = campaign contributions = the fight to keep it illegal

Don't forget about privately owned prisons.

Unfortunately, more people in prison also = more of a burden on taxpayers.

If you want to be technical, the only physical damage that could be attributed to the smoking of mar1juana is simply from the act of intaking burnt material in the form of fumes, paper/rillos, or just too smoking your throat raw.

If one smoked solely through a vaporizer, I wouldn't be surprised if you actually added a few years to your lifeline ;)

I don't smoke weed at all, and I think it should be legal.

Tax the **** out of it like what they do with cigarettes.

I'd also legalize online gambling and do the same thing we need methods to reduce the debt, every little bit helps. That is a completely different argument though.
