Beverley: “I’m happy. I’m definitely fortunate to be able to close the game out. But at the same time it’s a long season. Jeremy and James are definitely our leaders. If I need any advice I go to Jeremy and he lets me know. It’s definitely not a competitive thing here – I’m just trying to get better.”
Yeah, same here - it all hinges on what he does this offseason. Go to Asia and preach Christianity or stay here and work on his game every day?
let me take out the bull***** pc answer translate it for you: "Im glad i was closing the game out. I hope i get more chances to show that im the best point guard in this roster. I told jeremy if you slip up im taking your job. Im a professional athlete and I/WE are very competitive. "
It says he has only been here for a few days and Sampson hasn't had a chance to "set him straight" yet in regards to Lin. Trust me.
Read my #176 post. I think JLin should be compared to Westbrook only and no other PG because Houston and OKC are top offensive team so playing style fits. This way we will get a more accurate reading on his performance.
Hes not a pg hes not a scorer(sg)he needs to be replaced asap hes a career backup thie team needs a 2nd scorer harden cant do all himself cuz when he struggles the team is losing (last few games)harden is the only one keeping this team in the playoff run can you imagine if we dient get harden this year this team would be likevthe bobcats, wizards etc.someone like j.smith would be nice exactly what the rox need and start beverly play lin 20 min at pg/sg play jones more and we should be 5-7 seed this year.
Here is von. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/u_ajuGPcj2U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I liked that team a lot. Watching Brooks quickness brings back a lot of good memories as well. The dude would be an amazing addition next to Hardin, he shoots lights out in a system like this. Lin needs to play fearless like brooks did. Brooks was subpar in terms of PG ability but the fact he was a dead on shooter and so quick opened things up for everybody. This was after Yao went out and we literally had a D-league squad with the exception of scola/artest/brooks/landry and we were able to take the soon to be champions to 7 games. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/b6VN3mrlam0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> Before that series we beat the Blazers and Brooks was even more instrumental. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/IEpJFpp6eKc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> These are playoff games where the defense of the opposing team is at its height and buying buckets is the hardest. Notice how Brooks shooting thread spaces the floor and allows good transition buckets.
The only people that should replaced is McFail and PPat. We barely beat the worst team in the NBA--the Bobcats. This is an indication of a major weakness, not Lin's, but the coaching staff. Use of basic junior high school screens, iso ball, and over dependence of the three are all the reasons we are sucking. Our offense is too predicatable. In all fairness to Lin, he played average to good in most of the games during the losing streak. The Philly game was the only exception. If anyone was sucking, during that streak it was Harden. But is the a problem with Harden or is it the fact the McFail has given him the green light to play this way??? I think the later is the real problem and if it isn't rectified, I doubt we make the playoffs this year.
Harden can still get the ball with opportunity to create a foul if he learns to play within the offense. He needs to learn how to use his other players more effectively whether its using screens, cutting, or spacing. Too often Harden is a "ball stopper" in our offense and by doing so, it throws off the rest of the offensive flow. Granted-- I'm 100 times more confident in Harden drawing a foul then Lin making a shot
Has anyone else noticed how much better Lin is at making foot-on-the-line 3's (technically a 2) then he is at making behind the line 3's? I dont have the exact numbers but I know if they were in to be included in his 3's, his 3-pt shooting % would be much better. For what its worth, its pretty amazing that 1 or 2 inches can make such a big difference.
i agree with you on being involved as a playmaker. i felt too for some reasons he has had a heavy bag on his back. i don't know it is him or other ppl. somehow, rox front office, coaches, lin, and harden have to sit down to clarify the issue and make sure he has all freedom to push this team to win. w/o his good service, it's extremely tough for harden to carry this team to win every game.
This quote today from Friedman's article is very telling: For Lin, then, the battle he most frequently fights is one of finding the right balance between making sure he gets himself going while simultaneously ensuring he is taking care of the point guard’s prime directive and spearheading his teammates’ scoring as well. “As a point guard, the last person that needs to get going is the point guard,” he said. “But you know it’s different, too, because I’m also a scorer. I think, for me, what I just want to do is be aggressive, period, and just play-make and just let the game and their defense dictate what plays are going to be made; it could be an assist, or a hockey assist or it could be a shot." This is why we see him deferring early on in games and only getting himself going (if he gets going at all) in the second half. this is how he sees his role on this team, and this is how we should judge him. he won't take 15 shots a game unless his other teammates have been given a chance to get going. we won't see him take a lot of shots unless it's obvious that he should be the primary scoring option for any particular game (such as spurs), or asked to be the primary scoring option. sounds like his inconsistency has very little to do with confidence, but rather balancing the role of getting others involved in offense as well as getting himself going. he is not looking to score, and that's why we see the indecision at times.
