Something doesn't seem right. If those financial numbers are based on a year, that would be over a million dollars a day for operating expenses. I'm guessing that includes expenses for building the rail and not solely operating expenses.

As time goes on, the building rail expense will decrease substantially (although repairs/upgrades will always be needed) but I doubt they will be needed to the tune of a mil a day.

Just speculating.. with no factual knowledge on operating costs..

You make light of the situation, hoping to turn attention away from the issue. The bottom line is that you are unable to provide even one sentence to justify your position on the issue. You have displayed very shallow analysis of this issue, and as a result, your position on the issue is not worthy of being a representative example.

I encourage all voters to learn about the issues surrounding Metro's plan. Learn about its cost effectiveness. Try to figure out if it will ease congestion. Have an informed opinion. Then go vote.

TJ...ease up, brother. i haven't even tried to justify my position on the issue...and i don't owe you any justification. my entire post was, "i voted early...i voted for it." call me shallow...call me whatever you want...i simply don't care what you think of me.

TJ again you have to lambast "liberals". Why is this a partisan issue? Liberals by definition look for new innovative solutions to problems. This overblown street car is hardly innovative, but apparently I can't get anyone on this thread excited about real innovation. Maybe we should just extend the ship channel througout town and all ride those asian sampans.

For the Rail and for Bill White??? I don't know how anyone can come to the conclusion that either are a positive for Houston.

The rail is simply financially unfeasible and is simply desired by those who have always had the notion that the City and the Government are an open checkbook to have projects that will attain more votes, not benefit the city.

It is a complete waste of money. The Metro Bus system with a designated lane can accomplish virtually the same thing with much less of a cost.

It may be in part because of the geography and demographics of Houston. There is a great deal of land and the city is very spread out versus that of many eastern cities. There is a growth towards urban living and a rejuvenation of the downtown area, but it will not be to the point of needing a rail for some time. In that time period we should focus on fiscal responsibility and when it is truly needed, we can do so.

Until that point, it will be used by inner city dwellers and metro riders taking aways any 'European' or 'Eastern' city appearance that many are hoping for. By the time its actually needed, this current rail will not be as technologically sound and the opportunity cost of the time and money spent till then will be wasted.

    I am voting no.

Max, again you make light of a situation, hoping to obfuscate your lack of preparedness when you went to vote. You have proven incapable of articulating your position. You should have done your homework. You did not. Now you have to make jokes to divert attention away from your political irresponsibility. Shameful.

"An avaricious, grasping fellow; a miser; a *****rd; a churl."

Trader_Jorge indirectly posted the N-word! Race baiting at its worst. I am...

    DISGUSTED.

Sizzle Chest, the most widely accepted use of the word curmudgeon relates to "An ill-tempered person full of resentment and stubborn notions." By the way, *****rdly is a word with zero racial connotations. Stick to your core competency -- physics as it relates to astrology.

He is wrong yet again... Not only does physics have even less to do with astrology than "*****rd" has to do with african americans, but more importantly...

    PISCES!

I fear a lot of people will do this same thing. They will fail to educate themselves on the rail issue and vote for it because "it looks cool". It really gobsmacks me how people can do such a disservice to the community.
