I add smilies to enhance my statements and try not to overuse them.

Keep in mind that the smilies I use on a constant basis are part of the basic installation of this and almost all of the vBulletin BBS's, while they're gender-less, team-less, race-less, and otherwise contain no player hated, loved, or even known. I believe this is another reasoning behind 'hating' the "smilies" (if you can even call them that) or "emoticons" Mr. T-Dub includes.

Also, I've commented before on a couple of his posts that he was using them from other forums, "stolen" as leeched to put in posts here on CF.net, but not in a negative way. I noticed that now he uses those images from a different location. I haven't checked as of recent or if he answered my question of why he did that.
    YUP. This is it.

Now, those HUGE FONTS and LOTS OF TEXT that span a lot of space on signatures are more annoying than Dub's images.

Yeah that was the active forum n00b in me back when I was "stealing" them from the other sites server or w/e.. It didn't even cross my mind until you pointed that out in whatever thread, so I just uploaded the ones I liked to my own photobucket account.

My thoughts exactly. I thought I was taking Mugatu crazy pills when I'd read someone post a complaint. I guess I just made this thread mainly out of curiosity due to that. I mean, I've only maybe made a handful of posts that ever had more than 2 or 3 of them at once (preventing any clutter). Surely one or two tiny faces can't ruin someone's forum surfing experience.

Thanks for the feedback and keeping my dream of silly celeb emoticons alive. (This is where I'd include an emoticon of someone famous with happy tears if one were immediately available)

Whoa now, I wouldn't put that on Tdash. I think he's a solid poster, and one day I spent a good hour looking at the stuff on his youtube account. The guy has talent. Plus, he was on Friday Night Lights, one of my favorite shows ever. I just find the emoticons annoying is all. I feel they're kind of attention whoring, but they don't bother me quite as much as they did before I recognized him as a poster.

I don't see any sort of problem with doing the same thing over and over again in all my post so everyone knows it's you.

Seems like a lot of effort for low payoff. They often seem to be there just to be there, rather than being useful, but why do you care? Do what you're gonna do.

I wouldn't do it, but... it looks good on you. Use icons like that you get a free bowl of soup, am I right?

Great analogy. I would say your emoticons are like the piano key neck ties of the board. Barely a nuisance when compared to the other stuff seen on here. At least your threads have a point.

^^ perfect example of how one tiny smiley can encapsulate my feelings and response to someone's post in a way words could never do... but if you know the quote/scene, you'd know why I couldn't do it
unless there were no black people around ;)

LOL Great extension of that analogy!!

I got your extension right here.

No, really, I do... check it:

I think your emoticons are annoying, but I won't ask you to "retire them". How much of an attention w**** do you want to be if you want people to vote on what you should do that's this insignificant, really? :p

I think theyre okay in more LIMITED usage, not full time use. The Canibus battle thread was maybe the greatest use of custom emoticons in CF history. Thats how I know the "soul" of how they're conveyed, know where its coming from so to speak. So couldnt hate too much on following postings

    But honest answer, my reaction couple times has been "Okay we "get" it, you have different cooler emoticons" :eek: and have felt some of them are there just to be there. Which actually takes AWAY some of the actual expressive effect. Similar to the "Maroney smirk" being overdone by EVERYONE now in overkill where its lost most its original appeal {until she becomes of age}

Overall there is alway some inter-community decorum / site standard stuff that kinda is the "way". On this board the extra emoticons will be seen as eyesores of sorts, because this board is used to the mimimalism less-is-more approach. Anyone who tries to "stick out" with unique GRAPHICAL look will be seen as pesky, so a little "conformity" can come into play.

(Last thing, lest we forget...)T-Dub did bring in some PICS or Didnt Happen proof of REAL TITTEEZ to the board (they're probably gone, DONT LOOK this is a FAMILY board) Those things always are persuasive. Thats an automatic 18 month leniency to BOSS it up
