An update for those who may or may note care, but.. from what I've gathered from a trip to the orthopedist, not only is the bone broken but the tendon torn, thus a mallet finger. Not sure even if the two are any different but he mentioned them separately so hmm. Due to the fact that I'm 15 and still growing (albeit however little), doc recommended surgery, so I'm going in either Monday or Tuesday. I've got the splint off right now, and isn't really that bad to bend the whole finger - heck, I practiced throwing a football into my bean-bag chair last night and it only hurt when I threw as hard as I could. First broken bone and first surgery. Alright.
I was prone to fracturing my fingers at your age. I had 6 fractures in something like 3 years, each one at a time. Got a cast every time though, no surgery. I guess my tendons stayed healthy.
