We won the first two games of the Mavs and Jazz series also. Anyone getting their hopes up for second round is a fool.

What a stupid thread. Can you see into the future? If not, how the hell do you know that the Rockets will lose in the 2nd round? Stop creating garbage threads.

So because of Dallas and Utah series it's a guarantee the Rockets will lose the Blazers series. Ok. We'll enjoy the rest of the series, you can just assume the Rockets will lose the series if you want.

As intimidating as a name like CaseyH is, I'm going to disagree and say anyone trying to quash positivity is a fool.

What happens if Kobe gets injured and is out for the rest of the playoffs? Could happen. Magic Johnson and Byron Scott were both injured in Game 1 of the 1988 NBA Finals, and they got swept by the Pistons. So anything can happen.

If he really was saying we will definitely still lose the series then I agree with you. If he meant, dont automatically assume just cuz we won game 1 by 27 points that the Blazers will roll over and die, then I agree with him.

This series is far from over. Clearly the Rox took the early control, but honestly I think its better for Portland that they lost by almost 30 then if they had lost by 1 or 2.

It just amazes me how the tone of this board goes due to knee jerk fans (and Im not calling you one at all). With one game left in the regular season they all said the Rox were guaranteed the 2 or 3 seed and a WCF birth. Then we lose to Dallas and its no chance against Portland. Then we win game one and its a breeze into the second round but a sure death against the Lakers. People need to just relax, realize hopefully its a long postseason but there will be ups and downs and just enjoy it.

History doesn't always repeat itself... I had my hopes up both of those year, and I have them up now. Hell, I had them up before the playoffs even started.

The fact is that we look good to make the second round. It may not be a guarantee, but it's damn likely.

Oh, and as for the OP, no one gives a f*** whether you get your hopes up.

Umm, no. Statements like this are way beyond r****ded.

I kind of feel the same way.

Yea, the win was awesome last night. I was at a co-worker's birthday party (turned 33) and we had the game on. He hates basketball and yet I got him enthralled in last night's game. He knows what's going on this season and he told me, as an outsider, that he thinks it will be the Lakers to win it all (I personally think it will be Cleveland).

Point is, this is a valid thread. We're getting out of the first round this year in 6 games. 5 would be nice, sure.

However, we do NOT stand up to the Lakers. We just have no answer for them. So I get the sentiment. I get the OP's point. It is valid. However, I'm not getting excited about a championship here, I'm getting excited about getting out of the first round and breaking our curse.

So to the OP - Get excited about that! We match up decently with the Lakers but we also have the knack of falling asleep in the 4th quarter when the Lakers seem to wake up. We'll see.

I have to predict Lakers 4-1 in 5 games for us. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's see how we handle Portland on Tuesday. JUST WIN AT HOME ROCKETS!!!!!

No, we don't. Just leave him crying over the Lakers' loss. Rox would just move on to the WC Final series.

So what you're saying is that just because something isn't likely, there's no point in getting your hopes up for it? Upsets are part of the beauty of sports. If you can't get your hopes up for a Rockets upset, then go cheer for the Lakers. We don't need fans like you here.

That wasn't what I said at all.

    Maybe you mis-read.

I'm always hoping for a Rockets win over the Los Angeles Kobes. I just don't *expect* it. Big difference.
